Today is #WorldSepsisDay!
Sepsis is the final common pathway to death from most infectious diseases worldwide, incl. viruses.
Most people still don't understand that most people dying from #COVID19 are dying from viral sepsis.
These are the most common #sources of #sepsis:
#WorldSepsisDay is a reminder of the terrible toll that #sepsis takes around the world.
@WHO is supporting countries to reduce the burden of sepsis with proven tools that can save lives, regardless of income level. These tools serve to:
Prevent bloodstream infections and treat sepsis;
Strengthen emergency and critical care;
Improve infection prevention and control, especially in health facilities.
"WHO congratulates the @GlobalSepsis Alliance on the launch of the 2030 Global Agenda for Sepsis.
This will be a valuable tool in our shared work to prevent the suffering caused by #sepsis, which kills 11 million people every year, including children, older people and other vulnerable groups, particularly in low-income countries"--@DrTedros
https://t.co/AmTLuIunud Listen to ASA friend and Advisory Board member @JamieRylance on Long COVID and how healthcare systems can support those who suffer.
If you have suffered from #COVID19 and are still feeling the symptoms, could it be #LongCOVID? What are the symptoms? Are treatments available?
WHO’s Dr Jamie Rylance explains in Science in 5 👇
Few days ago ASA Executive Board member @HSalisukabara visited the Berlin office of the @GlobalSepsis Alliance. A strong international collaboration is key to improve sepsis awareness and quality of care. Grateful for the GSA support.
It was a pleasure to welcome @HSalisukabara, Vice ED of the @AfricanSepsis, to @GlobalSepsis HQ. It's great to meet those who are working on the front line with our common goal of #fightingsepsis. We discussed ongoing activities & the future vision of how to strengthen the #sepsisresponse in African regions.
@HaileGebr When least expected. Much is said and known about this proven world winner 🏆. Now, in the sepsis advocacy camp @AfricanSepsis. @HaileGebr, your skill and discipline are needed to spread the news.
