you should define people by their objectives. the goal of the consistent actions they take. not the spicy-ness of their rhetoric. not the type of tactic they’ll join at any given moment. what people aim to contribute to tells you more about their politics than their word choice.
“there is not a single university left in Gaza” is good but “before targeted Israeli bombings destroyed them all, Gaza had twelve universities due to its historical role as a bastion of trade and knowledge for Palestinians and their neighbors” is better
The Palestinians being pulled from the rubble in Rafah are being pulled piece by piece. The bombing is so intensely that it’s crushing people into pieces.
BREAKING: Students of Birzeit University in Ramallah forcibly evict Germany's ambassador from the Palestine Museum in protest of his country's role in the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Our solidarity must extend to West Papuans who have been fighting Indonesian settler colonialism for over 6 decades, and Dutch colonialism before that. West Papuans resist settler colonialism, military occupation and extractivism. #FreeWestPapua#PapuaMerdeka
And also needs to be said: the reason why the death toll in Gaza hovers at around 32,000 people is for the same reason the death toll from Covid during the Biden Admin stays at 800,000: because they took away any capacity to continue to count the dead.
At least 20 Palestinians who were found in the mass graves at Nasser hospital, believed to be buried alive (via Gaza’s civil defence).
Israel buried Palestinians alive.
They.
Buried.
Them.
Alive.
Nonviolence but genocide is ok
Nonviolence but prisons are ok
Nonviolence but wars are ok
Nonviolence but white domination is ok
Nonviolence but police teargas is ok
Nonviolence but assassinating journalists is ok
Folks aren’t nonviolent. They just support status quo racism
On Earth Day, I am again remembering the words of Thomas Sankara:
"This struggle to defend the trees and forests is above all a struggle against imperialism. Because imperialism is the arsonist setting fire to our forests and our savannas."
For the past 6 months every single day, the IOF has wiped out entire generations of Palestinian families — from great-grandparents to infants just weeks old.
This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.
From drilling Lake Bunga, to burning coal on the banks of the Birrarung, and warming the atmosphere with fossil fuel emissions, building Victoria’s energy industries has damaged Country.
The renewable energy transition is an opportunity to do things differently.
@yoorrookjc
Journalist @baselkhlaf asks Palestinians in Gaza what would be the first thing they'd do if a ceasefire was announced.
Every answer is more heartbreaking than the last...
