There is definitely a middle ground and it’s somewhere between what Japan does and what we do. Japan unilaterally executes pretty much every criminally intentional homicide and all other charges are either just heavy fines with restrictions if non violent and forced labor if they are. in the weight classes where there is actually a significant number of female competitors there is basically parity between them and it tapers off from there partially because height leverages become a huge factor and there just isn't the competitor base. Marianna Gasparyan currently is the 132lb untested weightclass leader outright not just in the women's league.

No but what you are referring to is things like height advantage in basketball being overshadowed by any drugs but when you control for things like that and allow both to blast steroids the gap vanishes. Powerlifting is a special example because we have leagues that both allow and ban steroids so you get a ton of data showing exactly what stated.

That’s because they are. Powerlifting is the best show of this. Until you let both men and women take steroids without restrictions there is a very measurable gap in every single weight class between the sexes that only closes when steroids are introduced. When that is the case the gap vanishes entirely which is quite logical as the gap between men and women from an athletic standpoint is almost entirely due to testosterone and other hormones
