Also I saw this with $CAR. Its a hunch, but believe instead of going all in by shorting stocks, option spreads were used. Reasoning - cost to borrow was 0 at highs, something not seen earlier.

@spotgamma But of course, if a material insider doesnt want you to pre-announce the results - then you simply dont!! It all depends upon the lead banker & which bank does the hedge fund have close ties.

@spotgamma you can pre-announce results. You dont have to announce all the details but Rev, GMs, EPS & do an offering.

The full results can be announced on the scheduled date itself. Often companies alter pre-announce results - slightly not materially.
