📚I finished reading Adanna yesterday, and this is my honest review:

* Adesuwa Nwokedi is an incredible writer. Do you know what it means to write a book and get almost the same reactions from everyone? I don’t think there’s anyone who read the book and didn’t cry or was close to tears. The ability to invoke emotions like that makes you an incredible writer. I give it to her. 👏🏽

* I felt every emotion reading this book — grief, sadness, disgust, anger, satisfaction, indifference, you name it.

* When they were looking for Uzochi in the park and Adanna saw her and let her escape, I wasn’t mad at Adanna. Regardless of the things we discovered about her, she was the only person who made Adanna feel seen in that ranch until she k!lled Chief Nsofor. The soft spot Adanna still had for her in the end was understandable, no matter how uncomfortable we don’t want to admit it.

* It is crazy that Daluchi never lied to Adanna if you think about it. She told her she was dating a married man and that the man would soon end his marriage to be with her. The only thing she withheld was the married man’s name.💀

* Akanna’s déath didn’t give me much satisfaction. He deserved a more gruesome one.

* Thinking about it again, Uzochi was the one feeding Chief information about Adanna. She made herself a safe space to exploit her vulnerability. Poor Adanna.

* No matter how good you are at predicting the ending of books, you cannot predict this one. No way anyone saw that ending coming.

* I lowkey believe that Akanna also had a hand in his father’s déath. I just can’t prove it.

* For what it’s worth, I’m glad Adanna had a happy ending at least.

* This is not the type of book that you can read twice or more, but it is the type that every reader should read out of sheer curiosity. It is beautifully written, and I believe this is the height of book trauma.

* Will the writer see me near her works again? Maybe not. Did I enjoy reading this book? Absolutely. It kept me on my toes for the entire 48 hours it took me to finish it.

* I have gone through what others who read it went through before me. Now it is my mission to make other people go through the same thing. You shall be seeing Adanna recommendations from me a lot moving forward.
