Officially a shoe-free agent! It’s been 6+ years but it's time to bust out the Vans, Common Projects and whatever else dads are wearing these days… New Balance?

Yes, I was part of the wave 2 layoffs at Nike and am no longer at the Swoosh. My tenure at Nike was primarily amazing with a bit of an emotional rollercoaster towards the end of my journey. I joined thanks to amazing leaders. At first, securing the opportunity to work at the super brand I idolized as a kid/soccer player delivered a major “pinch-me” moment, and even more so, when on the inside I witnessed and benefitted from how brilliant my teammates were. I poured everything into my work, my team and NYC, the city we served.

Covid hit and things forever changed. A lot of positive personal changes, but professionally I transitioned to two different jobs within Nike, and if I am being honest, I never really got my groove back. Being remote was a struggle as I commuted from LA to PDX twice a month (on my own dime!). It was hard to be away from Dominique Ahumada and our kiddos but also limiting to try to build relationships and trust with teammates I only saw a few times a month. Then I got moved to the LA team, which was amazing, however I was spending 3-4 hours each day in the car commuting and praying to the traffic gods. In hindsight, it’s not terribly surprising my initial joy and spark had been waning..

I acknowledge the hurt I am feeling as my time at Nike has come to an end, but the majority of my feelings are of excitement, optimism and determination for what’s next. I am forever thankful for the exposure, growth and pivotal experiences Nike bestowed upon me, but most importantly I am grateful for the people it brought into my life.

Sports truly do have the power to change lives (they certainly did for me). While I no longer will make that a reality for others at the world's biggest sports brand, you better believe I will certainly make sure it continues to be part of my next chapter.

Time to get off the sidelines and into the game. Onward!
