Eight years ago today, the China–Maldives Friendship Bridge was opened as a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between our two nations, connecting our Capital, Malè to the Airport and Hulhumalé.
More than infrastructure, it represents the trust, solidarity and shared aspirations that bind the Maldives and China together.
Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, our partnership continues to grow from strength to strength, creating new opportunities for our people and opening new horizons for our shared future.
On this 8th anniversary, I reaffirm the Maldives’ commitment to nurturing this everlasting friendship and building an even stronger partnership with China.
It gives me great pleasure to extend Independence Day greetings from the Government and the people of the Maldives to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, His Excellency Prime Minister @anwaribrahim, and the brotherly people of Malaysia.
The Maldives and Malaysia are bound by shared values and mutual respect. Built on decades of close ties, our partnership has grown into one marked by high-level cooperation and strong people-to-people exchanges. I reaffirm the Maldives’ firm commitment to further strengthen this meaningful partnership in the years ahead.
On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we stand in solidarity with humanitarian personnel around the world who risk their lives in the service of humanity.
At a time of growing humanitarian need, nowhere is the failure to protect civilians and aid workers more evident than in Gaza. The Maldives condemns the obstruction of humanitarian aid and violence against relief personnel and reiterates its call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
We honour those who serve as humanitarians, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that others may live. Their courage demands our collective commitment to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of all humanitarian personnel.
