Abuja is full of Igbo creatives, founders, and business owners building brilliant things — completely unaware of who else in the city could be their client, collaborator, or mentor.
We're closing that gap. 🧵
Introducing the Abuja Igbo Creative and Business Summit (AICBS) —
🎉 Happy Birthday to Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, CON! 🎉
From the East to the world — you built an empire on grit, vision, and an unshakeable belief in homegrown excellence. Just like the legends who bridged regions and built the culture, you built the bridge that carries Nigerian engineering to the global stage. 🏗️🌍
The ỤLỌ way: honour the builders. And you, sir, are a builder of nations. 🐐
Wishing you good health, greater achievements, and many more impactful years!
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria 🇳🇬
To the traders, founders, startups, creatives, businesses, enterprises and industries building across the South East.
To Ndigbo building, innovating and creating value across Nigeria and around the world.
We see you, we celebrate your work.
🎭 CREATIVE OF THE WEEK 🎭
Meet Kenneth Kamah [@KennethKamah1], the Nigerian storyteller, filmmaker and communications strategist who believes language is the architecture of how we see the world. 🎬🌍
Native to Enugu State and fluent in Igbo, English and French, Kenneth brings a multicultural, multilingual lens to every project. As a filmmaker, he uses the screen to explore society, relationships and the human condition, with credits including Lillies and Thistles, Itohan, The Letter, Man of The People and Submerged. 🎥
An NYFF grantee, he premieres his newest film, Minno, in Q4 2026. 🚨
By day, he is Head of Languages at the Languages for Growth and Impact Foundation, where he champions one idea: language decides whose stories are amplified and who gets a seat in the global conversation.
The question at the heart of his work:
"How do the stories we tell, and the language we use, shape the way people see the world?"
That is a creative who understands strategy, a communicator who understands the heartbeat of a story, and a linguist who honours the human dimensions of speech. Storytelling, for Kenneth, is never just entertainment. It builds empathy, challenges assumptions and preserves culture. 🎞️
Follow the storyteller @KennethKamah1
Watch out for Minno this Q4. 📽️

ỤLỌ PIONEERS SPOTLIGHT
On this edition we honour a true architect of the modern Highlife revival: Wizboyy.
Born Isioma Ofuasia, also known as Wiz Ofuasia, he did more than make hits. He engineered a sound.
🎛️ THE ARCHITECT OF THE "ENUGU REVOLUTION"
In the mid-to-late 2000s, Enugu became a serious alternative to Lagos, and @WizOfuasia was at the centre of it.
He engineered, produced and mixed records that fused deep Igbo language and local melodies with mainstream-ready urban beats. The Coal City boom had its sound, and he built it.
🎶 HIGHLIFE, REIMAGINED
Vintage Igbo Highlife rhythms met Afropop, R&B and Gospel sonics, and a whole era found its groove.
The songs that defined it:
"Screensaver" (feat. J. Martins): the breakout that set his romantic, contemporary Highlife signature
"One Plus One": the love ballad that became a wedding-floor staple
"Infinity": from his 2011 sophomore album, a party and wedding anthem
"Wizolingo", "Fotojenik", "Lovinjitis" and "Salambala" (feat. Phyno): club-ready and unmistakably Eastern
🎓 THE STATISTICIAN WITH THE GOLDEN EAR
Originally from Umunede, Delta State, Wizboyy graduated in Statistics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, then turned precision into music. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, audio engineer and producer, he did it all.
🤝 THE SPRINGBOARD FOR SOUTH-EAST TALENT
Through his independent label, No Tyme Records, he opened doors for the next generation, working with and elevating Zoro, Slim Brown, @phynofino, Stormrex and J'Dess.
🎚️ THE HAND BEHIND THE CLASSICS
His technical mastery lifted the standard of Eastern Nigerian music. He produced, mixed or played on records for Flavour, Bracket and the late MC Loph.
🌍 TAKING THE SOUND TO THE WORLD
He performed at the London 2012 Olympics' River of Music concert alongside icons like King Sunny Ade and Angelique Kidjo, and partnered with UNESCO on the Zero-Corona project.
Long before Afrobeats became a streaming powerhouse, Wizboyy was carrying indigenous South-Eastern sound across Africa and the diaspora.
He didn't follow the wave. He built the shoreline.
Wizboyy is ỤLỌ.
The pioneer who made Highlife modern, and made it travel.

Happy birthday Odogwu 🥳🥳
Keep up good work you are doing for Ndigbo both home and abroad.

ỤLỌ’S POP CULTURE REVIEW OF THE WEEK
Cc x Photo Sources: @igbohiphopNG
1. September 21: Singer Danifresh has taken to his Instagram Story to call out Zynotopboy, accusing him of using artists to sell tickets while failing to treat them with respect. In the post, @Danifresh__ wrote:
"You announce a lot of Artists Just To sell your tickets, Yet you still disrespect them."
The brief but pointed message has sparked conversation among fans, with many reading it as a wider critique of event organisers who lean on artist line-ups for promotion without treating performers fairly.
2. September 22: A string of recent releases has thrown the spotlight on Enaps Empire, the producer behind four of the more talked-about records of the moment. "By Now" (Evado) and "Nwa Agu" (Evado ft. Hugo P) extend a momentum-filled run for Evado, while "Blessings" (Highstarlavista & Aguero Banks) and "Obi Nwanne" (Hugo P ft. Wizard Chan) show the producer's range across different pairings.
Repeat collaborations with Evado and Hugo P suggest a working relationship both artistes keep returning to, while "Blessings" and "Obi Nwanne" reflect a willingness to bring newer combinations into the studio. With "By Now" now added to the catalogue, attention turns to who @enaps_empire teams up with next.
3. September 23: Nigerian singer-songwriter Ugoccie has publicly backed fast-rising artist Dluxx following the release of his debut album, Not Pride, Just Scars, out now on all major streaming platforms.
The endorsement carries weight: @ugoccie broke through in 2021 with the viral "Do You Really Like Me?", earning a Rookie of the Year nomination at The Headies 2022 and collaborating with Phyno. Her co-sign is being read as a strong vote of confidence for Dluxx as he steps out with his first full-length project.
Not Pride, Just Scars is a raw, emotionally driven work that trades flex-heavy bravado for vulnerability, framing @official_dluxx's guarded exterior as armour built from setbacks and betrayal rather than arrogance. The album moves between bar-heavy rap and soul-stirring melody over dark, bass-driven production, with a supporting cast of collaborators throughout.
For an emerging artist, backing from a name like Ugoccie can accelerate visibility — part of a wider trend of established Nigerian acts using their platforms to spotlight new talent.
4. September 23: Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as @PeterPsquare and one half of the defunct duo P-Square, marked his son Cameron Nonso Okoye's 18th birthday on 23 September 2026 with a heartfelt tribute, describing him as his pride and blessing and urging him to always remember his roots. The post drew warm wishes from fans celebrating the father-son bond.
The milestone came just days after Okoye testified in the ongoing P-Square royalties court case, confirming he'd received over $800,000 from SACEM — part of a widening financial dispute with brothers Paul (@rudeboypsquare) and Jude Okoye. For a day, though, the family feud took a back seat to a quieter, personal celebration.
5. September 24: Nigerian influencer @chudy_jnr has shared details of an emotional evening spent with indigenous rapper @Nuno_zigi, describing hours of conversation about their journeys, ambitions and the challenges they've overcome — including the loss of their fathers.
Nuno Zigi reportedly played Pablo unreleased tracks and shared his upcoming plans, while Pablo shared a personal milestone of his own, which the rapper celebrated warmly. Pablo credited Nuno Zigi with always treating him "like his younger brother."
Nuno Zigi, born Obiora Okechukwu Ayadinuno, was discovered and signed by Phyno to Penthauze Music after a standout freestyle. Known for blending English and Igbo in a style he calls "Afro-Lamba," he has become one of Nigeria's leading indigenous rap voices since his 2022 debut, "No Day Off."
The reunion has resonated online, with fans praising the honesty and warmth behind the friendship.
6. September 25: Kolaboy Announces Debut Album "Nwa Nwanyi Deeper Life," Sends Nigerian X Into Frenzy. @kolaboyofficial (Nwodo Chinonso Victor) has revealed the tracklist for his debut studio album, Nwa Nwanyi Deeper Life, sending the project straight to No. 1 trending on X in Nigeria within hours.
The album features Morravay, Evado (x2), Jeriq, AgueroBanks, Hugo P, Paddyk, Moec, Hynezz, Yung KEB and Ref Music — a mix pairing East Nigeria's breakout star Jeriq with a wave of rising names, and marking Kolaboy's first full-length project after a run of EPs including Kolapiano and Kola from the East.
Nwa Nwanyi Deeper Life drops Friday, 2 October 2026. Fans on X are already picking apart the tracklist, with the double Evado feature and the Jeriq collaboration drawing the most speculation.
7. September 25: Nigerian influencer Ifeoma Igbotic (@IfeomaIgbotic) is trending among fashion-forward followers after stepping out in a two-piece set she designed and made herself. Sharing the look on X on 24 September, she captioned the post simply: "Igbo Barbie 💗 I'm rocking the two piece I made."
The self-styled "Igbo Barbie" moment is the latest example of a growing wave of Nigerian influencers who aren't just wearing fashion — they're making it, using social platforms to showcase homegrown design talent to the diaspora and beyond.

📜 ỤLỌ: THE PROVERBS
Focus: @favogbuji
Igbo wisdom teaches that ọ bụ otu aka ka e ji ata ọjị — but community is not made of one hand alone, and not every voice that speaks for the culture speaks in the same register.
@favogbuji, known online as MPA Biggest Force, is one of the most active documentarians of Igbo traditional life on X — a feed built from lived, firsthand participation rather than commentary from a distance. He shares footage from igo mmuo rites, hosts kinsmen at ancestral homes in Owerri and Arochukwu, and attends festivals like Ikeji Aro and @IgboHangFest, championing the idea that wherever two or three Igbos gather, there should be a hangout, a festival, a reason to convene.
His philosophy is syncretic and unapologetically modern: "Igbo bi ire" — culture lives and evolves. He argues Igbo tradition can hold Christianity within it rather than against it, and lives by "biri kam biri" — live and let live.
But @favogbuji is also one of Igbo Twitter's sharpest and most polarizing voices — known as much for public, personal clashes with fellow Igbo commentators over questions of cultural purity and tradition as for his cultural documentation. It's a combination that makes him impossible to ignore: a man deeply inside the culture, unafraid to fight loudly about what it means.
@favogbuji — rooted, restless, and never quiet about it.

ỤLỌ'S THROWBACK THURSDAY
HOW ISAKABA BECAME NOLLYWOOD'S GREATEST ACTION CULT CLASSIC 🎬
Before Netflix. Before Nollywood went global. There was one franchise that turned Igbo folklore into cinematic warfare.
That film was Isakaba (2000–2001).
Directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen and produced by the late Chukwuka Emelionwu of Kas-Vid International, Isakaba is a deliberate anagram of "Bakassi" — a loosely spiritualised retelling of the real-life Bakassi Boys, the grassroots vigilante group that rose in the late 1990s to rid Aba and Onitsha of armed robbery and terror.
At its centre: the legendary showdown between the vigilantes and the sorcerer-kingpin Eddy Nawgu.
🎬 THE FRANCHISE
Isakaba Parts 1–4 (2000–2001): the definitive saga. Ebube (Sam Dede) leads the Isakaba boys into brutal mystical and physical combat against gangs armed with dark magic.
Isakaba 5 & spin-offs: extra parts to satisfy the VCD boom.
The Return of Issakaba: a major revival bringing back Sam Dede and Chiwetalu Agu, alongside a new Nollywood generation — Chidi Mokeme, Regina Daniels, Phyna.
🗣️ THE PHILOSOPHY OF EBUBE
Sam Dede's Ebube wasn't just an action star — he was the executioner of Omenala, traditional moral law. He spoke almost exclusively in proverb.
On corrupt elders backing armed robbers for profit, he warned that a child who washes his hands clean dines with kings, but an elder who eats with dirty hands sits with the children on the floor.
On fleeing criminals, he reminded them that a bird which leaves the earth for an anthill is still, in truth, on the ground — justice would still reach them.
On hidden conspirators, he observed that a toad doesn't run in daylight for nothing; it is either chasing something or being chased.
And on the robbers' charms, he mocked that any animal foolish enough to climb a thorny tree must know how it intends to climb back down — a direct jab at magic that could never outrun justice.
⚡ THE ODESHI PHENOMENON
Whenever a machete or bullet failed against an Isakaba member, the cry rang out: "Odeshi!" — it does not leak, it leaves no mark.
Decades later, Odeshi has been resurrected by Gen-Z and Millennials on TikTok and X as the ultimate meme for resilience — against heartbreak, hardship, exams, or village-people energy.
🎵 THE MUSIC LEGACY
The imagery — fearless Igbo men fortified by charms, marching to war — never left Nigerian music.
@kolaboyofficial fused Amapiano with the Oja flute on Kolapiano Vol 2 (Isakaba) and its remix with Timaya, using "Isakaba" as shorthand for an untouchable brotherhood.
@WANDECOAL's Iskaba (ft. @DJ_TUNEZ) borrowed the same energy of invincibility for the dance floor.
Across the discographies of @phynofino, @2niteFlavour and @ZoroSwagbag, references to Odeshi and the Bakassi Boys still signal street credibility and Igbo brotherhood.
🦅 FOR THE GLORY OF NDIGBO
Isakaba wasn't just entertainment — it was an archive. Academic studies on the anthropology of proverbs in Isakaba note how it preserved Igbo idiom, rhetoric and moral philosophy on screen.
It refused the "weak native" trope. The weapons were local — machetes, cowries, charms. The music was war chant. The justice was rooted in Alu, the cleansing of the land.
Sam Dede, Amaechi Muonagor and Chiwetalu Agu gave Ndigbo a cinematic archetype that has never been replicated: unyielding, vocal, ancestral, fierce.
🍿 THE SEQUEL: ISSAKABA RETURNS
Twenty-five years on, Lancelot Imasuen has wrapped principal photography on Issakaba Returns — bringing Sam Dede and Chiwetalu Agu back alongside Chidi Mokeme, Regina Daniels, Iyabo Ojo, Nosa Rex and Phyna.
Imasuen's reasoning: the evils Isakaba fought 25 years ago — kidnapping, banditry, terrorism — are still with us today. The film now moves through post-production ahead of a worldwide cinematic and streaming release.
The seed planted in Anambra, on VHS, in Igbo, with proverbs sharper than machetes — became a monument.
This is how Isakaba built the archetype Nollywood still returns to.

👑 ADA NDIGBO OF THE WEEK 👑
@officialjdess
Born Joy Chioma Ebiem (later Obilo), J'Dess is an acclaimed Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress known for her soulful fusion of traditional Igbo folk, alternative pop, and contemporary R&B. She has carved out a distinct identity as a powerhouse vocalist whose storytelling centers on themes of hope, resilience, and womanhood.
CAREER BEGINNINGS & BREAKTHROUGH
J'Dess discovered her musical roots at age 14 inside a church a cappella group called The Destined in Enugu. She initially started as a gospel singer, releasing her quiet debut track "Kpakpando" in 2009.
She achieved early national recognition by winning Season 2 of the Destiny Child Gospel Talent Show in 2013.
Her mainstream breakthrough came in 2017 when she competed on The Voice Nigeria (Season 2). Her breathtaking live performances, including a viral cover of Rihanna's "Love On The Brain" propelled her into the Top 8 final round, establishing her as a premier vocal talent.
MAJOR MUSIC & DISCOGRAPHY
🎵 "Chi Efo" (2020) : This critically acclaimed morning-dawn anthem served as her breakout secular single. Backed by live instrumentation from the highlife band The Cavemen, it earned her a nomination for Best Vocal Performance (Female) at the prestigious Headies Awards.
🎵 Ada (2022) : Her highly praised 8-track debut EP was dedicated to her late father, David Ikemefuna. The project includes the hit tracks "Away" and "Fly", featuring collaborations with prominent artists like Waje, Zoro, and Chigurl.

THE ALA ERA: A DEEPER DIVE
J’Dess is a musician promoting her EP “ALA,” inspired by the Igbo goddess of earth and life and centered on themes of motherhood, growth, identity, and cultural roots. She releases Afrofusion tracks like “CHINYERE” through collaborations and engages fans via listening parties and pre-save campaigns in Lagos. Her work fits within broader Igbo creative and cultural conversations.
OTHER VENTURES
Beyond writing and performing, J'Dess is a multifaceted creative. She is an actress who made her film debut in the movie Wind of Destiny and has performed in major musical stage plays. Her exceptional ear for music has also earned her roles behind the scenes, serving as a vocal coach on Nigerian Idol, as well as a creative mentor for emerging talents.
According to @ekwensubusiness, J'Dess has created a sound so distinctive it needed a new name: "URBAN NIGERIAN ARISTOCRATIC SOUND."
This is not music for the merely wealthy. It is the soundtrack for people whose lives carry substance—scholars, entrepreneurs, technologists, doctors, investors, public intellectuals, institution builders, and professionals whose work has travelled beyond Nigeria.
Imagine a gathering of Nigeria's finest minds across generations:
The intellectual giants: Chinua Achebe, Nnamdi Azikiwe
The political and professional class: Michael Okpara, Sam Mbakwe
The global thought leaders: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
Today's builders: @winexviv, @Nonso_Obiefule,
@eldivine, Felix Ike, Kevin Chibuoyim, Michael Chiedoziem, @favogbuji, Ifeanyi Ogbaji, @_Anyafulugo, Nathan Nwachukwu, and countless others shaping companies, technologies, and institutions for the world.
Put these people in one room. What does that room sound like?
That's where J'Dess comes in.
Her music is elegant. It sounds urban. It sounds Nigerian. It sounds cosmopolitan. And most importantly, it sounds like the very thing we've been searching for, a sonic identity worthy of Nigeria's brightest and most accomplished.
THE VERDICT:
J'Dess is not just a singer. She is the sound architect of a class, the voice of a new Nigerian aristocracy, one defined not by money alone, but by excellence, intellect, global impact, and cultural rootedness. She has created the music that finally matches the greatness of the room.
She is the sound of Urban Nigerian Aristocracy. She is greatness personified.
WHY SHE MATTERS
J'Dess represents a bridge between the timeless and the contemporary. Her music carries the weight of Igbo tradition while floating effortlessly into the cosmopolitan spaces of modern Nigerian life. She is not just a singer, she is a cultural archivist, a storyteller, and a sound architect for a generation that refuses to choose between heritage and global relevance.
She is our Ada Ndigbo of the Week.

Congratulations to @Nonso_Obiefule, the visionary leader at @IgboHangFest, on the conferment of a chieftaincy title by the people of Nneator, Mbano.
A fitting recognition of a modern-day Renaissance man — moving between boardrooms and blockchain, global markets and Igbo heritage, while consistently creating space for culture, community and ideas to thrive.
From global brands to Africa’s evolving tech and Web3 ecosystem, Nonso’s journey reflects the power of an Igbo mind operating on a global stage without losing sight of home.
Today, Nneator celebrates its New Yam Festival and a son of the soil receives a new honour. Two celebrations, one powerful reminder: Ndigbo bu otu. Igbo bu otu. 🌍🌱

🚨 ỤDỊ AHA OF THE WEEK🚨
@Siiqo4SMEs isn't just a startup, it's the trust infrastructure African commerce has been missing — rebuilding how Nigerian SMEs and creators sell, get paid, and get found.
They are driving the shift from cash-and-hope transactions to verified, escrow-protected commerce, forging the tools that turn online attention into dependable, protected revenue for the 40 million SMEs powering Nigeria's economy.
Mandate: Verified Storefronts, Escrow-Protected Payments, Invoicing, Hyperlocal Discovery
Established: 2024, Abuja, Nigeria
Traction: 500+ Active Vendors • 12,500+ Orders Processed • 100% Escrow Protected • 3 Minutes to Go Live
They bridge the gap between a fake bank alert and a business that survives, between a buyer who disappears after payment and one who transacts with confidence. This is where the hustle of Nigerian commerce meets serious, verifiable infrastructure.
Why they're winning:
They don't just talk about trust.
They build the framework. In their hands, a verified badge isn't just a checkmark; it's a promise. An escrow payment isn't just a hold on funds; it's a guarantee someone gets made whole. They're proving that trust isn't a feature you bolt on, it's the infrastructure every transaction should run on. One vendor, one dispute resolved, one dependable sale at a time.
"Trust is infrastructure, not a feature." — Siiqo
@OkerekeChinweo1 is the philosopher and software engineer behind Siiqo, the Commerce Trust Platform for African SMEs and creators. He shares practical advice on starting online food businesses, gaining visibility and first orders, and fixing the small sales leaks that quietly drain revenue.
