Catch up here 🎗️ #endometriosis is a systemic inflammatory condition whereby cells ‘similar to’ the lining of the uterus grow on other organs. It’s the most aggressive benign disease there is. #CannabisReformIreland@IrelandAMVMTV
@AimeeLouB#Endometriosis and Medicinal Cannabis advocate chats with me about the MCAP program, studying and working while living with chronic pain, & how Social Media has become not only a lifeline but a tool to support and inspire others. #DEARGPodcast

Honoured to be part of this incredible series which will no doubt help countless people to navigate their tough journey! So much love and respect for you @Kathleen_M_King thanks for having me 🫶🎗️ #endometriosis#cannabisreformireland
Aimee Brown became the first documented individual in Ireland to receive a ministerial license allowing the use of cannabis for the treatment of chronic pain associated with her endometriosis. #ENDOMETRIOSIS#Inmheatróis#Adenomyosis#MCAP#Cannabis#Pain

Meanwhile driving underprivileged communities in the lowest socio economic areas further and further into poverty while those in higher classes taking the same drugs live their lives without the constant terror of continuous stop & search! #drugpolicyreform
The longer I work in psychiatry
The more & more I am reminded that poverty is one of the most harmful factors (if not the most harmful factor) affecting peoples' mental health
We're here in London battling the weather to raise awareness five years on from medical cannabis being available to prescribe. Children and their families are forgotten. Please @10DowningStreet it's time you sort this failed policy! #westandwithyou @MedcanFamily
Medical cannabis patient & activist Aimee Brown.
"I was using cannabis for 10 years before I was granted the label of patient"
@AimeeLouB#EndProhibition
Same goes for our sorry excuse for an MCAP program. I’m so broken hearted to see so many families suffer & bury loved ones when it’s preventable 😭 we need safe access for all and we need it now 💔 where is the appetite for truly helping society?! 😭
Today marks 5 years since the change in law. Policy has failed to enact the law in allowing access to medical cannabis for so many children like Alfie.
Please support and sign the petition (link in bio), and I'll be updating on the campaign over the coming days and weeks.
A leader with guts...our own could learn a thing or two from HER. In the meantime the Irish government seem unable to even speak (or type) the words 'genocide' or 'apartheid'
I’ve met many MS people in recent weeks & each story is worse than the last. Some not being given ANY medication cos they’re not bad enough yet, then told it’s too late to start it because it’s gone too bad. None had safe cannabis access. 💔
A depressing article in the Irish Times from 2013.
Ten years on and MS patients still have virtually no access to medical cannabis in Ireland.

A member of the Crainn subreddit just shared that for growing 2 cannabis plants they were given:
- 6 month jail sentence suspended for 18 months
- Charges for cultivation and possession
- A rehabilitation stay
- A 'costly' rehab course

@chat_annie@RTEUpfront@KatieGHannon A reform of your education perhaps. Cigs & alcohol are a free for all & those who don’t want to simply don’t use them. Cannabis will be the same & those who partake will do so safely. It’s only criminal because of a backward law. Law needs to change.
@chat_annie@RTEUpfront@KatieGHannon We already have that system yet 1000s of patients don’t qualify for the restricted program. Leaving them to source medication in a dangerous market. Social clubs cut out the danger and require ID preventing underage access. It makes sense.
@chat_annie@r_crainn Did you not hear the woman in the audience who was literally born into addiction? Traumatized by policies? She cited that 90% of addiction is a trauma response. Policies are traumatising people into addiction, drugs are a symptom, not a cause!
There's been so much highlighted the past 2 days about the uncertainty that members of the #CADrugsUse faced when voting for recommendations that there must be a call for transparency. As someone who shared a lived experience perspective, I feel robbed of democracy @drugscrisis
@r_crainn They stopped the concerns raised about forgotten patients bcos MCAP is already an established program yet they discussed methadone which is also already established. Complete contradiction & then hid behind the terms of ref argument. #hypocrisy
This is NOT #decrim. This IS coercion and suggests if you don't voluntarily engage with health services you could still face criminal sanctions. In other words if you don't have a problem & are caught in possession & won't say you have a problem you could be charged.
@RTEUpfront As a cannabis patient with a prescription in Ireland, I had to go on tinder while in Portugal to access my medicine. Not one bit safe. Irish farmers supplying Irish social clubs would cut out the need to source from gangs & make it safer for everyone.
