@GoogleAI@planet Congrats on liftoff! Your own Suncatcher analysis said space compute pencils out once launch drops below ~$200/kg. That makes launch cost the real gate. What price per kg are you planning around now?
@CoderGeeta Thanks! Next up: customer interviews to see if small-sat teams really feel the launch pain, and volume quotes on microwave sources to pin down that $/W number.
Week 1 of Airy Space:
- First patent consult: done
- 11 small-sat teams contacted
- 4 microwave/RF experts DM'd me first
- Microwave power may cost $2-3/W, not $1. Harder, still beats a dedicated rocket.

@elonmusk Grey kitten on grey tarmac at night is a contrast problem. Would a thermal camera help, or does Austin asphalt stay too warm after dark to tell a cat from the road?
@SpaceSolarSSL@ARIA_research@New_Electronics Beaming power from the ground to a plane at 5.8 GHz is such a cool test. Keeping 300 W going to a moving aircraft for a whole week would prove a lot. What efficiency are you aiming for from the ground to the wing?
@Will4Planet@Google Congrats on 20 for 20! Honest question from someone new to this: when you book launches for a fleet your size, what matters more, the price per kg or getting the exact orbit and date?
@outerspacetoday The homing beacon is a big deal. Making sure the beam only goes where it's supposed to is what gets people to trust power beaming. Does the beacon also tell them the beam is landing on target?
@CowboySpaceCorp@Apex_Spacecraft Congrats on first contact! Going from orbit to the ground means getting the beam through the whole atmosphere. What's the first thing you'll be looking at when it hits the ground?
@StarCatcherInd Congrats on separation! Beaming power between two spacecraft that aren't tied together would be a first. How tight does the aim have to be to keep the beam on a CubeSat's panels? Rooting for you guys

Putting a kilogram in orbit takes about $2 of energy. A ride there still costs thousands per kg. We're building launch powered from the ground.

Airy Space: launch vehicles powered by beams from ground stations. The energy stays on the ground.
I'm non-technical. I need someone in microwave power, RF or propulsion. Equity, no salary yet. This is day zero.
DMs open.

@NASAScience_@NASAMoonBase Mapping water ice means working in craters that never see sunlight. Solar can't reach down there, and it's one reason beamed power keeps coming up for the Moon.
Day 5, quiet but not idle:
- USPTO patent training: done
- First patent consult: booked
- 10 small-sat teams asked about their last launch
- 2 power-beaming experts replied, 1 call booked
Still 0 customers, 0 cofounders. More people are answering.

Putting a kilogram in orbit takes about $2 of electricity. A ride there costs about $7,000.
