My program once ranked 9 females and 10 males in their top 19 for 6 spots and ended up with an all male class because of the algorithm.

@ChristinaPushaw @houmanhemmati It’s not always merit based. Getting an interview is merit based but the ranking by the program can be down based on perceived fit, likelihood that applicant will rank them high as well, etc. applicants rank based on location, support system, program rank etc.
