Maldivians who support this unfair gangster like tax on foreign tour operators will say it is our islands and our resources they are selling. You can take the white Maldivian sand and shove it up your arse..

New Zealand gov does not require Maldivian tour operators based in Maldives who sell tour packages for Auckland to pay GST to New Zealand on the commission they make in Maldives. But the Maldivian gov is asking tour operators based in New Zealand who sell tour packages for a holiday in Maldives to pay GST to MIRA on the commission they make in New Zealand. This makes no sense. Every tour operator sells tour packages for multiple countries and Maldives is just one of them.

They already pay GST on that commission in their home country.

We should be a country of common sense. But Muizzu is desperate for dollars so he is trying to squeeze foreign tour operators at the cost of Maldives reputation. Tour operators can simply remove Maldives from their portfolio. So these Maldivians who don’t understand international trade and economics, those who are saying it’s our resources, our beaches etc.. can go and set up companies abroad on their own and start selling packages and pay GST in that country and again to Maldivian gov, on the same commission.
