"Do you know why we Recite the ATTA'HIYYAAT, in every Salah?

Attahiyyaat is a very important 'Dua' we repeat it in our daily prayers.
When I came to know the background, it actually melted my heart.

Attahiyat is actually a part of a conversation between Our Creator Allah SWT and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) during his journey of Al Isra Wal Miraj.

When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) met Allah SWT, he didn't say 'Assalam aleikum'.
What is someone going to say when he meets Allah SWT ?
We can't wish HIM peace because ALL sources of peace are through HIM.

So Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

"Attahiyyaatu Lillahi Was Salawatu Wattayyibatu"

(All compliments, all prayer and worship are for Allah)

Allah replied:
"Assalamu Alaika Ayyuhannabiyyu 'Warahmatullahi Wabarka'tuhu"

(Peace be upon you, Oh Prophet and Allah's Mercy and Blessings).

To this, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) replied:
"Assalamu Alaina Wa'ala'Ibadillahis Saa'liheen"

(Peace be on us and on all good slaves of Allah)

Note*
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) included "us" in his reply...
(and on all good slaves of Allah)

And listening to this conversation between Allah and His Messenger (pbuh), the Angels said:
"Ash'had'u'un La ilahaillallahu Wa Ash'hadu Anna Muhammadun Abd'uhu Wa Rasooluh"

(I bear witness that no one is worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger).

Subhan Allah!
I now know the background of this conversation and its importance in our daily prayers and how the Salat was prescribed to us.

NIGERIA AT THE BRINK: CORRUPTION, IMPUNITY, AND THE FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP - By: Hon Abubakar MG - January 21, 2026 - Part 2

One of the most disturbing realities I have observed is that those who truly deserve to be in jail are often not only free but are powerful lawmakers, policy influencers, and moral lecturers in our society. They make laws for the people while openly violating those same laws with impunity. In Nigeria, consequences are selective, and accountability is negotiable. This abnormality has been normalized to the extent that outrage is now temporary and justice is optional.

I am particularly troubled by the state of the legal profession and the justice system. Many individuals who should never have been allowed near the temple of justice now wield enormous influence within it. Some have turned the law into a commercial enterprise and proudly serve as consultants in the pollution of justice. As a result, justice in Nigeria has been diluted, compromised, and weaponized to the irritation of every reasonable conscience that still believes in fairness and equity.

When those who once dispensed injustice find themselves on the receiving end of similar treatment, they cry foul and accuse the system of witch hunting and political persecution. I have always taken a different view. I ask a simple question: has there ever been a time in Nigeria when justice was not selectively applied? If strict and impartial justice were to be enforced today, I strongly believe that only an infinitesimal number of Nigerians elite and non elite alike would survive its rigorous application.

What worries me deeply is how comfortable Nigerians have become with injustice and abnormality. We have adjusted our moral compass to accommodate the primitive accumulation of unexplained wealth by individuals with no visible means of income beyond their proximity to power. This theft of public resources has been normalized, celebrated, and even defended along ethnic or religious lines. Each time I travel Nigeria and observe how government functions elsewhere, I feel a profound sense of sadness. The feudal nature of leadership in Nigeria makes our democracy appear hollow and deceptive.

We must confront an uncomfortable truth, we have built a culture that celebrates thieves and elevates them as role models. In doing so, we have rewarded those who have stolen not just money, but the future and potential growth of Nigeria. We applaud opulence without questioning its source, and we condemn integrity as naivety. This value inversion, in my view, is one of the most dangerous threats to our national survival.

I am equally disturbed by the hypocrisy that defines our public space. We have individuals who preach righteousness, rule of law, and moral rectitude in public speeches, yet practice the exact opposite behind closed doors. Judges and legal actors who knowingly dispense injustice are fully aware of the harm they cause, but they persist because there are no consequences. Worse still, those empowered to discipline them are often direct beneficiaries of the same unjust system.

Today, we loudly proclaim the supremacy of the Nigerian Constitution, yet we violate it whenever it becomes inconvenient. Politicians routinely suspend constitutional principles in the name of defending the constitution itself. To me, this contradiction defies logic and exposes the insincerity of our democratic claims. A constitution that is selectively obeyed is not supreme, it is decorative.

I firmly believe that Nigeria is approaching a boiling point. The signs are unmistakable and visible even to those who choose not to see. Economic hardship, insecurity, social distrust, and institutional collapse are converging into a dangerous mix. For me, the path forward is clear, though difficult: Nigerians must come together across divides to insist on what is rational, just, and correct. Without urgent and collective reform, I fear that Nigeria, as we know it, may indeed be doomed.
