Shri @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia chose to stage a dharna outside the Hon'ble Prime Minister's residence , causing inconvenience to the public and disregarding established security protocols.

Even after Government conveyed its readiness for a comprehensive discussion, the Congress chose political spectacle over democratic debate. Their objective was never solutions for students, it was disruption for political headlines

For Rahul Gandhi, this is not about students. This is about manufacturing confrontation after every genuine avenue for discussion has been opened.

Our Government remains 100% committed to discussing NEET and addressing every genuine concern of our youth on the floor of the House. The students of India deserve far better than being treated as props in a political campaign. They deserve certainty over chaos, solutions over slogans and responsibility over disruption.

We owe our students more than outrage. We owe them answers, reforms and accountability. That is exactly what our government remains committed to delivering.

KA’s exit from the BJP is unfortunate for both the party and KA. In the longer run, more for KA, as BJP has thrived its organisational strength for decades. It is one of the most strained feelings, personally.

I’m still trying to figure out what and how exactly to perceive this exit. It is extremely unfortunate that he has left BJP. He was my biggest hope in putting up a fight against Vijay and Udhayanidhi. But I’m siding with the organisational prowess.

BJP was never right-wing. IMO, it is far from being centre-right. But if a “mass” personality like KA feels that BJP is a burden for “his style” of politics, then it is best for BJP that he left.

There is no need for BJP to go against KA or underestimate his efforts. KA himself is a manufactured person. Along with his efforts, the party had to manufacture such a person from ground zero, and I heard that he is one of the most politically sly people around. No wonder KA wanted freedom.

KA manufactured a cult personality within an organisation which does not promote individualism. And him leaving the party is a result of this. He is more focused on cult personality, which ensures his operational freedom to a great extent, at the expense of organisational backing. There is no underestimating KA at this juncture.

But he is on his way to losing many right-leaning, anti-DMK, and anti-missionary supporters, once he becomes an active participant in anti-BJP issues. And over time, KA will miss the “continuity” that BJP offers.

From here, there are only two options:

1/ KA actively going against TVK, completely overshadowing DMK, AIADMK, BJP - and eating into the votes of everyone. Or forming an alliance with NTK, PMK, and other current NDA allies to present a strong alternative against TVK in the form of OBC consolidation. Even a CM candidate in 2036.

2/ KA becoming another Seeman.

Two extremes.

While I rant this much about the need for organisational backing, I myself have invested a lot of time and energy on a cult like KA. That is Tamil Nadu’s mindset. But whatever ideology he chooses, I’m not going to support him, as BJP’s organisational prowess makes more sense and the continuity it offers is the only solution for our country’s future growth.

Few things to take away from here:

1/ BJP promised abrogation of Article 370 in its 1989 manifesto. Fulfilled in 2019. 30 years.

2/ LK Advani - the face of the Ram Mandir movement - was never in the picture on January 22, 2024.

3/ BJP has never sided with anti-national elements. Discovery of natural gas in Andaman and its uncompromising stand on foreign relations needs political will. This nationalism stems from a structure.

4/ BJP never celebrated Tamil culture for electoral gains. For instance, how does establishing Thiruvalluvar Centres across the world and translating the Tirukkural get votes? But it is carried out on mission mode. They know it won’t yield electoral benefits, and BJP still does it.

KA advocating patience is one of the greatest ironies. He is literally saying he couldn’t manage the internal politics of few washed-out seniors. Wish he had some patience within, to fight back.

1/ KA was airdropped in 2019.
2/ Suvendhu Adhikari was a TMC Cabinet Minister in 2016.
3/ Himanta was an INC Cabinet Minister in 2014.
4/ Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jaishankar, Hardeep Singh Puri, Arjun Ram Meghwal - all civil servants.
5/ We have a Tribal CM in Odisha. I don’t even remember his name.

BJP can always make leaders, overnight. That’s what an organisation does.

There is a narrative being built that Annamalai left BJP with some tacit approval from the central BJP.

I believe this narrative is not being created because it is convincing, but because many genuine cadres and supporters are unable to psychologically accept what has happened.

For the last few years, many supporters built their political hopes around two beliefs.

First, that Annamalai was a committed BJP man and that the central BJP would never simply allow him to walk away.

Second, that he was a Hindutva ideologue and a core nationalist who represented a different kind of politics in Tamil Nadu.

Now both beliefs have been shaken.

Annamalai leaving BJP itself is difficult for many supporters to digest. But what is even harder for them to accept is that a person whom they believed to be a Hindutva ideologue could equate BJP with DMK, ADMK, TVK.

So, naturally, some supporters are creating theories to explain away this contradiction. They are trying to convince themselves that there must be some larger strategy between Annamalai and the BJP.

In my view, this is only a psychological coping mechanism.

The reality, as I see it, is very different.

Annamalai was neither a true Hindutva ideologue nor a core nationalist.

In his own resignation video, he said that when someone asks him whether he is a Tamilan first or an Indian first, he feels conflicted.

A real nationalist will never feel conflicted on this question. Regional identity and national identity need not be enemies. One can be proudly Tamil and proudly Indian. This is where Annamalai revealed his real ideological position.

My reading is simple: Annamalai saw BJP as a platform that could help his personal political growth. He joined the party, used the visibility and resources available through the party, and built a powerful personal brand.

I am not against personal branding. Every successful politician needs it. But the problem is that the branding was largely centred around him, not around BJP as an organisation.

Instead of strengthening the party’s long-term identity in Tamil Nadu, the party’s platform was used to project one individual as the entire movement.

The same party resources were also used to damage the image of existing BJP leaders. I have my own disagreements with many traditional Tamil Nadu BJP leaders. I do not support all their actions or strategies. But using party resources to weaken your own party’s leaders is a much bigger issue.

Beyond party leaders, even the naturally built nationalist ecosystem that existed before Annamalai entered BJP was damaged.

There were many non-party supporters, independent voices who stood with BJP even before Annamalai became prominent.

When many of them had genuine differences of opinion about him, the party’s strategy, or alliance politics, they were not engaged with in a democratic or ideological manner. Instead, they were targeted, discredited and pushed out of the conversation.

Once that older ecosystem was weakened, a new ecosystem was created around Annamalai. Many people who simply nodded along with him replaced those who had been supporting the larger cause for years.

That new ecosystem is now being used to create narratives for Annamalai and against BJP.

And now, after leaving the party, the same ecosystem is being used to justify his exit and attack the party that gave him the platform.

In my view, Annamalai is not a Hindutva leader. He is not a core nationalist. He is a street-smart politician who used the ideology for his personal rise.

Now that he feels he has gained influence over a section of nationalists, he wants to expand into a wider political audience. That is why he has moved out.

I feel sad for the sincere supporters who emotionally invested in him for the last 5 years. Many of them believed they were supporting a cause. But in reality, they were made to contribute to the rise of one individual’s personal political project.

That is the practical reality of what has happened.
