Thanks to Audley Cricket Club for hosting us and our coffee morning yesterday.
Excellent to see all those who dropped by for a ☕️ and 🍰. Thank you for coming!
P.s It’s going to be a hot weekend - stay hydrated Newcastle-under-Lyme! 🥵💦
I’m deeply concerned to hear reports of the collision involving 2 East Midlands Railway passenger trains.
I’m grateful to emergency services who are on the scene, attending to those affected.
We're working quickly with the rail industry and local partners to support passengers.
What a fantastic result. After such difficult results in May, it’s great to win again and show how, and that we can, beat Reform in communities like Makerfield.
There’s much to digest. A huge thank you to @AndyBurnhamGM his team led by Louise Haigh & @anneliese_midge , Labour staff, all have been amazing, and to our entire movement who came together and showed the best of us.
A glorious morning walk in North Staffordshire.
As holy scripture tells us… ‘this is the day the Lord has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it.’
Happy Friday; y’all.

Congratulations to my friend @AndyBurnhamGM . I’ve greatly enjoyed working with him over the past three years as we created the Austin/Greater Manchester Sister City. He’s a very good, fun person. I am excited for his election as MP.
I was happy to be the self-appointed chair of “Texans for Andy Burnham” 😂
Thank you to everyone who has knocked on doors, leafletted, stopped Andy for a selfie and of course all of you across our towns who voted for hope today.
To George and Laura, Bill and Hillary — we're grateful for your friendship, counsel, and devotion to this country. And to Joe and Jill, thank you for being on this journey with us.
Wonderful to visit the Barker farm last Friday and to hear first hand from a brilliant British farming family. 🇬🇧
I made the front page of Farmer’s Weekly for calling out the Treasury proposals on inheritance tax for farmers.
We got the right result.

🚨NEW: Green party-led Bristol city council has banned residents from flying the England flag during the World Cup because its "making migrants feel uncomfortable"
[@LBC]
Ace to be with the @NSCGNewcastle crew at their 2026 Celebration Awards last night (and to be home on a Tuesday night even if meant a crack of dawn train 😃!!).
The skill and smarts of our young people was everywhere to be seen. Well done!
The future is bright ⭐️🌟 #LoveNuL
NEW: Labour MP @alistrathern is pushing for govt to make relationships & sex education mandatory for 16 to 18-year-olds
The draft law - called the Relationships and Sex Education Bill - will extend the time pupils are taught about a range of relationship issues and recognising behaviours like coercive control
The MP was drawn 14th in the private members’ bills ballot
As many MPs who voted for it privately conceded, the Assisted Dying Bill had many flaws.
I entirely agree with this letter & am bemused it’s being reintroduced unamended.
Although not religiously, nor philosophically, opposed to assisted dying I will not support this Bill.
@DrMickSalt@AJogee Very well deserved, we could have our window open last night, not possible for years before Adam Jogee. It’s the little things we didn’t have that make the difference to our quality of life, thank you both.
Kit Malthouse, hardcore supporter of the Bill, just told @SebastianEPayne@TimesRadio that MP supporters of the Bill must NOT amend the Bill.
Every amendment, no matter how vital, will be rejected by Lauren Edwards MP.
