Well water oscillate non stop in Gujarat. Whyy ?
This is called well seiche
Imagine you have a bucket filled with water. If you suddenly shake the bucket once, the water moves left to right → left → right for some time before becoming still.
Now imagine the Earth itself is giving a tiny invisible shake to the underground water not enough for humans to notice, but enough for water inside a deep well to start moving. This back and forth motion is called a well seiche.
But the bigger question is:
Why is only one well moving while nearby wells are calm?
Because every well is different underground. Think of two musical instruments: One tuning fork vibrates when a particular note is played. Another nearby tuning fork may remain silent.
Similarly, this new 18-foot well may have:
1) a unique depth,
2) a narrow underground fracture,
3) connection to a confined aquifer,
4) or a pocket of pressurized groundwater.
That combination gives the well its own natural frequency. If groundwater pressure changes (after heavy rains), distant vibrations, or tiny earth movements match that frequency, the water starts oscillating continuously.
Possible causes, in order of likelihood:
1. Groundwater pressure fluctuations (most likely) – Recent monsoon recharge pressurizes the aquifer, causing rhythmic movement.
2. Resonance (well seiche) – The shape and depth of this well amplify small underground pressure changes.
3. Hidden underground fracture or cavity, Only this well is connected to that feature.
4. Tiny seismic vibrations – Even distant earthquakes can make well water oscillate, though no such event has been confirmed here.
5. Nearby pumping or machinery – Less likely, but investigators will check.
Why is the Collector investigating?
Because continuous oscillation can indicate:
1) an unusual underground geological structure,
2) changing groundwater flow,
hidden cavities,
3) or, more rarely, seismic activity.
It doesn't necessarily mean danger, but it is scientifically unusual enough to warrant a geological and hydrogeological study.
The best part of the Gen Z protest at Jantar Mantar was singing the National Anthem ❤️🩹 while facing the police lathi charge to defend 😂. What’s your view?

It has almost been 10 days since the UPSC released the result of Prelims 2026.
You must have got your reality check!
You already know your position.
You know your preparation level.
You know your commitment level, and you also know what mistakes you made.
Now it's time for some serious talk.
There are three options in front of you now:
1. Leave UPSC completely.
2. Prepare for UPSC alongside a job.
3. Start again with full confidence and full commitment.
You have all three options in front of you, but the decision must be yours only, depending upon your situation.

A proud milestone in India's conservation journey.
With the addition of Jai Prakash Narayan Bird Sanctuary (Surha Tal), Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, India has reached the landmark figure of 100 Ramsar Sites.
Each protected wetland strengthens biodiversity, supports livelihoods, and builds climate resilience for future generations.

As Bharat marches ahead during Amrit Kaal, Hon'ble @VPIndia Thiru @CPR_VP dwells on the government's initiatives that have benefited people across the country, particularly Nari Shakti, youth and farmers.
Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda, Thiruvalluvar and Subramania Bharati, he calls upon everyone to strive together to create a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
#UPSCCSE2026 - Paper was undoubtedly difficult, to the extent some of the questions being called arbitrary and nonsensical.
- Laxmikant is History but History has made a brutal comeback. (Approx 20 questions).
- Ethics in prelims is a pleasant surprise. No complaints.
- Unnecessary facts asked - don't make sense.
- Lengthy
- Unconventional
.... the list goes on.
My portion, Economics, had 14 questions directly. 5 could be answered directly from the classes and 6 indirectly from classes/ notes.
The cut off might drop to 70's or even lesser. Lowest in a decade. 2 questions:
1. When cut off is low due to higher difficulty no one complains.
2. When cut off is low because the paper is abstract then people start having a problem.
Some questions for which I want answers (preferably from UPSC):
1. How do you expect the students to prepare for such an exam? (I’m not asking about books. I am asking about strategy/ mindset)
2. Is UPSC doing this to wage a war against coaching institutions? (Questions asked multiple times)
3. Does UPSC want aspirants to look for other alternatives in the private sector and not depend just on govt jobs?
My Opinion: UPSC wants people with high IQ, high EQ and a very stable mental balance to handle situations under extreme pressure.
UPSC wants Dhurandhars!
After looking at today’s UPSC Prelims GS Paper-I, one question seriously arises:
Is UPSC truly testing our knowledge aptitude and clarity, or is it more about unpredictability and anxiety?
What are your thoughts?
