*NARD UPDATE:*
*ARD BSUTH SUSPENDS STRIKE AS 23-MONTH PAT/SA ARREARS ARE PAID IN LUMP SUM AND HOUSE OFFICERS’ SALARIES REVIEWED UPWARDS*
Distinguished NARDites,
The *Dr. OGAR Emmanuel Idoko, POTNARD XLVI-led NARD NOC* is pleased to announce another significant breakthrough in our collective advocacy efforts, this time from the *Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.*
*Our colleagues at BSUTH have received payment of 23 months of outstanding PAT/SA arrears in a lump sum, while the salaries of House Officers have also been reviewed upwards by the Benue State Government.*
We sincerely appreciate the Executive Governor of Benue State, *His Excellency Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia,* for this landmark intervention, which has brought significant relief and renewed hope to our colleagues at BSUTH.
We are particularly encouraged that this represents a major milestone in the resolution of outstanding welfare concerns in a State Tertiary Health Institution, and we call on the Federal Government and other State Governments to emulate this commendable example by prioritising the welfare and working conditions of resident doctors and other healthcare professionals.
*We also deeply appreciate the Immediate Past President of NARD, Dr. Muhammad Usman Suleiman, and his NOC; the Immediate Past Leader of the NARD North-Central Caucus and current Chairman of NMA Benue State, Dr. Fanen Dogoh; the current Leader of the NARD North-Central Caucus and immediate past NARD National Committee Chairman on STHIs/PTHIs, Dr. Igbah Terhile Igbah; and the ARD BSUTH EXCO, ably led by Dr. Kawen Timothy Pededoo*, for their unwavering commitment, resilience and steadfastness throughout this struggle.
We commend the leadership of ARD BSUTH for the suspension of the strike action and the prompt return of our colleagues to their duty posts, demonstrating their commitment to both patient care and constructive engagement.
This development further reinforces our conviction that persistent, strategic and constructive advocacy delivers results.
The NARD NOC remains fully committed to pursuing the legitimate demands arising from the Calabar AGM and ensuring that the welfare and professional interests of Nigerian resident doctors remain at the forefront of our engagements with relevant stakeholders.
*NARD will not return to Egypt.*

The NMA Katsina State Branch, under the leadership of Dr. Yahya Salisu Sodangi, proudly celebrates three of our own, Dr. Muhammad Usman Suleiman, Dr. Shu’aibu Ibrahim & Dr. Kabir Salisu Lawal—as they conclude their tenure as NARD National Officers’ Committee (NOC), 2025/2026.
Dear Nigerian Government,
When our children were abducted in Oyo, we saw urgency.
You deployed 1,000 forest guards. You provided updates. You showed concern. You pursued the kidnappers and eventually brought the children home.
We applauded you because we believed that response reflected the value you place on every Nigerian life.
So why has the response to the #BornoSchoolChildren been so different?
Their parents have protested repeatedly. They have pleaded for their children. Yet months later, we are still waiting for the same urgency, the same visible effort and the same determination we witnessed in Oyo.
No Nigerian is more Nigerian than another Nigerian!
It is already a failure that these children were abducted. It would be another failure to allow their parents to keep pleading while their children remain in captivity.
Give Borno the same urgency you gave Oyo and #BringBornochildrenHome.
The Nigerian Medical Association, Katsina State Branch, joins the good people of Katsina State in celebrating 39 years of our shared heritage, resilience, progress and aspirations for a brighter future.
