Envy (जलना) is a very common Indian response to anyone who outperforms in your ingroup.

Funny thing is you only have real envy with people you personally know thereby shrinking your own ingroup and making it even less successful. If you don’t know somebody and they’re successful you don’t care. But boy oh boy. Somebody that you know tasted success ?? What the heck. Not on your watch buddy.

It is so ingrained in our mind that we do it out of habit. I do it too all the time. Areey he got a better rank. He got this that. He got a podcast harami sala let me pull him down.

But what’s the best case ? Alright the person you’re wishing failure on will fail. What next ? Somebody else will try. Ok they will also fail.

What’s the best case ? Everyone fails right ?

And that’s India. There you go.
