PARLIAMENT: Local Government Minister @BalaamBarugahar has called for changes to the law to strengthen disciplinary action against corrupt officials in local governments. Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee on Local Government, chaired by MP Betty Nambooze and her deputy Abed Nasser Mudiobole, Minister Barugahara criticised the handling of corruption cases involving public officials, particularly those accused of embezzling public funds. He proposed amending the Local Government Act to establish disciplinary committees in each district to handle offences involving local government officials.
