1948 के हैदराबाद में निज़ाम-समर्थित रज़ाकारों की हिंसा के दौरान मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे के परिवार ने भयावह त्रासदी झेली। उनके परिवार के कई सदस्यों की मृत्यु और घर जलाए जाने की बात विभिन्न विवरणों में सामने आती है।

आज सव���ल यह है कि जिस परिवार ने रज़ाकारों की हिंसा का दर्द झेला, उसकी राजनीति आज किन सिद्धांतों पर खड़ी है?

क्या राजनीतिक पेशा व्यक्ति को उसके अपने इतिहास और सामाजिक स्मृतियों से इतना दूर कर देता है?

सवाल यह नहीं कि कोई व्यक्ति अपने अतीत का कैदी बना रहे।

सवाल यह है कि सत्ता, पद और राजनीतिक सुविधा के सामने इतिहास, सिद्धांत और अपनी जड़ों की स्मृतियाँ कितनी जल्दी गौण हो जाती हैं?

पद और सत्ता यदि सिद्धांतों से बड़ी हो ज��एँ, तो राजनीति विचारधारा नहीं, सुविधा का दूसरा नाम बन जाती है।

ज़रा सोचिए... सत्ता के लिए इंसान आखिर कितना बदल सकता है?
