Ahead of the USMNT’s match against Peru, 19-year-old Orlando City forward Justin Ellis said Gio Reyna is his favorite player and someone he’s looked up to.

Less than four minutes into his USMNT debut, Ellis scored against Peru in his home stadium — assisted by Reyna.

After the 4-1 win, Reyna posted this on his Instagram story: “Congrats my boy ❤️👏”

New York City FC moves into a new stadium at Willets Point, Queens, next year, ending its nomadic era.

Here are the locations across New York and the USA that NYCFC nomads have called home.

The World Cup made a lot of Americans pay attention to soccer for the first time, especially in New York/New Jersey area where the final was held.

NYCFC coach Pascal Jansen has a message for them. Support your local club 🗣️

He spoke before the win vs Chicago Fire.

“Having the World Cup here in the U.S. and in Canada and Mexico hopefully will give this game another boost,” Jansen said at the press conference.

“Seeing new fans getting hooked up and enjoying this game is something that I hope will come of it.

“The people who haven't been to the New York City games is something that I'm looking forward to.

“So hopefully the World Cup has inspired a lot of people to come and watch more football.

“And where else better to come to either Queens or the Bronx to watch us play.”

NYCFC won both of their games since MLS returned after the World Cup break.

Tonight, they beat Gregg Berhalter’s Chicago Fire at home, and had a crowd of 27,500 people— which made the coach happy.

Jansen is a Dutch coach who worked for Ferencváros, AZ Alkmaar, and Jong PSV before coming over to NYCFC.
