Peep at this defensive adjustment to Luka screening to coax the Steph switch.
Once Steph switches onto Luka, Draymond immediately comes over to bump Steph off on the scram switch. Luka keeps trying to get Steph to switch but Steph hedges. He contest a Rui shot to force the miss.
When an NBA player misses a 3, but their team gets the offensive rebound, this chart shows:
1. How frequently they take an immediate follow up 3. We'll call this a Mulligan 3.
2. Their success rates on those 3's
3. How quickly on average they take those shots following the miss
The way ESPN/major networks/podcasts of the same ilk cover the NBA isn’t going anywhere any time soon because, regardless of how mad it makes people, it gets clicks/tweets/eyeballs.
We can complain all we want, but a video of SAS giving his thoughts on the stupid thing that he himself got in trouble for saying is currently always gonna get more views than a thorough X’s and O’s breakdown or some hardcore analysis.
We can say we want it to shift away from the hot take/rage bait garbage to hard-hitting analysis all we want, but it doesn’t change the fact that the engagement difference between these two approaches is stark.
Want it to change? Stop watching it. Stop quote tweeting it. Stop engaging with it entirely.
Until that happens, it’s not going anywhere.
I’m done reacting to all the nonsensical coverage that’s prevalent with ESPN and similar major networks, because all it does is reinforce that approach. I encourage you to do the same.
Kyrie Irving says he wanted Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis to team up with him and Jayson Tatum in Boston
“It was a dream for Kyrie, AD, KD to be on one team and still keep JT and let him grow and then see how it goes.”
