Can RR Lyrae stars be younger than we thought? A new study finds 23 of these pulsating stars in intermediate-age star clusters in the Magellanic Clouds, challenging our traditional view of them as exclusively old stellar tracers 🧵

The unexpected connection between the northern lights and Hubble’s death

2024 has gifted us the most spectacular auroral show on Earth since 2003.

It's also been the year that Hubble's orbit has decayed more severely than any other.

They're related.

Ultra-Faint Dwarf Galaxies: Not as Small as We Thought?

@astrobites's Brandon Pries reports on how astronomers use pulsating stars to look for stellar halos around ultra-faint dwarf galaxies, some of the smallest galaxies in the universe.
