@NullThrowaway28@AtorNathan@jorfolle And we think of that country as very secure. On the other hand, you can look at Afghanistan, where the taliban regime practically authorizes it by law, considering the little autonomy they allow women and girls. So it's very obvious in some cases, but not in others.
@NullThrowaway28@AtorNathan@jorfolle Hard to say, victims often don't disclose what happened to them, you would need to use an international comparison to judge, but they wouldn't necessarily be accurate. Take Japan, according the Black Box Diaries, of Shiori Ito, they are probably very undereported there.
@AtorNathan@NullThrowaway28@jorfolle We only have the hope to educate current and future generations in a way that makes the autonomy and integrity of others a paramount concern.
@AtorNathan@NullThrowaway28@jorfolle The number of rapists targeting women and kids in any country, regardless of origin/religon is distressingly high, and the core of it is in the home, not from strangers. If you told me you had the power to make them disappear, I wouldn't bat an eye. Unfortunately, we can't.
@NullThrowaway28@AtorNathan@jorfolle But they were shot gratuitously? Having horrible opinions isn't worth a death sentence. That's why I don't wish death on conservatives, whose main concern is not women's safety but control. Which doesn't exclude a level of care.
@AtorNathan@jorfolle You'd have to eliminate a large part of people (mostly men) worldwide...more seriously, the way to fight that is by combating sexism, teaching people consent, not revenge fantasy without any sense of proportion.
@NullThrowaway28@AtorNathan@jorfolle It's not, and of course rape culture is rife, and there is often a pretty Venn diagram between people thinking they have a kind of ownership over women's bodies and people dreaming themselves the bloody avenger of "sullied" women.
@Noamtheslayer@AtorNathan@jorfolle I don't care about the rapist, actually. But you already understand that it was the framing and the needless killing that I most objected to; you just needed a cheap shot. I understand.
@AtorNathan@jorfolle My man, that's a talking point of conservatives everywhere: what did she wear, why did she agree to go into his room, weren't they dating, etc. On this front, the North American right wing and Islamic integrists agree totally.
