A Culturally Responsive Classroom – Rooted in the idea of cultural competency, teachers, and leaders do not attempt to ignore or erase students’ unique cultural identities. Instead, students are encouraged to come with their full authenticity and are accepted and valued.
Loved being able to see the amazing accessible playground ideas generated in Ms.Parents class today! An excellent #adst project @homma_school#sd38learn
Thanks for allowing me to play a small part in it!
Congrats to Mr.Crowe @RAMcMath for putting three mud kitchens together with his Skilled Trades Exploration class. Many happy hours of fun created through #ADST. Lots of learning, followed excellent questions like “I wonder how we could have done that better?” #sd38learn
This has been a question that haunts my thoughts.
“The problem as I see it is that we are married to a system that has not been properly re-evaluated for 21st-century capabilities”
But it does not consider education to be broad based. Inclusive of electives?
Interesting idea for remaking high school schedules:
- Scrap semesters & 50-minute classes
- Instead, students have 2 long classes per day for 6-to-8 weeks
- Study 1 subject in the morning, another in the afternoon
- When term ends, go to new subjects.

How far will a ball go? We wondered if there is a way to have a ball go a shorter distance. We noticed that the slope & where we started the ball made a difference. We also noticed that using foam blocks instead of wood made a difference. #friction@AlByres@stevescyclones
