@DNSWilson Interesting. My prediction: CE and KLF lead on 1st, then IB, PM, and YF drops. YF 2nds go largely to KLF, 0 to PM, who drops on 2nd ballot. His 2nds are split between IB and CE, but not enough for IB to survive, and he drops off on 3rd. His 2nds carry CE to a slim win over KLF.

YF is 5th on 1st ballot, but his seconds go largely to KLF. 2nd ballot, PM is last, his seconds are split between CE and IB. 3rd ballot, IB is over 30%, but last, and his seconds naturally go to CE over KLF, who wins with about 56%.

The legislature may sit all night to debate a bill that has a fundamental impact on your privacy.

Few people even know this is happening and it's not a big political win to be staying up all night opposing it.

But a whole bunch of conservative MLA's will not sleep tonight to fight for your rights.

It's not running a marathon but it is also not a lot of fun going sleepless and starting again tomorrow.

Thank a conservative MLA for doing their job when the NDP is trying to pass a bad bill in the middle of the night.

I lived in Hungary for several years under the Orbán dictatorship.

The funny thing was, people could and did say whatever came into their heads, protests were held in front of the parliament, there was a gay cruise bar down the road and Orbán held elections.

And yet, the country was a dictatorship.

Whereas in the UK, people tend to be distinctly guarded and if they do say the wrong thing very publicly, they get locked up.

And yet, it's a free country.

Once you understand that words can mean whatever we want them to mean, it begins to make sense.

Let me tell you how it’s possible:

A drama teacher was elected 3 times.

We spent billions on international gender programs.

We refused to expand oil & gas to Europe & Asia

We couldn't control spending, so we raised taxes.

We enacted the War Times Measures Act, oops, I meant to say the rebranded name, the Emergencies Act, on innocent Canadians and used lawfare on them, despite it being ruled unlawful by the Courts.

Our Prime Minister then divided our country.

He thought it was a good idea to mass-import millions of foreigners from one part of the world.

Crime skyrocketed.

Healthcare crumbled.

Housing costs & inflation spiralled out of control. 

The brain drain continued, we lost some of the best. 

And then we decided to then elect the drama teacher's advisor for his last 5 years.

You buy a Pokémon card for $50.

Someone offers you $500 for it. You say no. You love that card. You're keeping it.

The government says: "Cool, but that card is worth $500 now. You owe us $100 in taxes."
You: "…I didn't sell it."

Government: "Don't care. Pay up."

You don't have $100 lying around. So you're forced to sell the card you love just to pay a tax on money you never received.

Next month? That card drops back to $50.

Your card is gone. Your money is gone. And the government shrugs.

That's a wealth tax on unrealized gains. They don't pay you back the tax...

Now picture this.

Your mom calls you crying. She has to sell the house she raised you in. Not because she can't afford it. She's lived there 30 years. It's paid off.

But some website says it's worth more now and the government says she owes $15,000 she doesn't have.

So she sells your childhood home. The kitchen where she made you breakfast. The doorframe where she marked your height every birthday.

Gone.

To pay a tax on money that was never real.

Now picture the opposite.

Your dad put everything into his small business. For 20 years he built it from nothing. One year the business is "valued" at $2 million on paper. He owes a massive tax bill. He empties his savings. Sells his truck. Borrows money. Pays it.

Next year the market crashes. His business is worth $200,000.

He lost everything to pay a tax on a number that doesn't exist anymore.

Does the government give him his money back?
No.

Does the government give him his truck back?
No.

Does the government care?
No.

They sold this idea as "taxing billionaires." But billionaires have armies of lawyers, offshore accounts, and trusts. They'll be fine.

You know who won't be fine? Your mom. Your dad. Your neighbor with a small business. The farmer down the road who's had the same land for four generations and now has to sell it because dirt got expensive.

You're not taxing wealth. You're taxing people for owning things.

It's like getting a parking ticket for a car you might drive somewhere someday.

They want you to own nothing and be happy. To fund the fraud, waste and abuse of the welfare state they created.

There is enough money. More tax isn't needed. It's all a lie. But you've been gaslit into believing this is a rich vs poor debate.
