NWS Mobile used satellite and radar to confirm three previously undocumented May 22 tornadoes in Choctaw and Clarke counties, all out in the woods. Meanwhile, a gorgeous 80s afternoon, rough surf at the coast, and severe drought is off the Alabama map for the first time in 2026.

Wednesday closed out beautifully across Alabama with drier air moving across the state. Tonight lows will drop into the 50s across much of the state. The coast is gorgeous on the sand, but a Rip Current Statement runs through Sunday with east winds gusting near 30.
Survey results in on Monday's storms — the Guntersville-area damage was a confirmed microburst with 80 mph straight-line winds. Today's the opposite: sunshine and dewpoints in the 50s. The beach looks great but the surf is rough with a Rip Current Statement through Sunday.

Dewpoints are tumbling across north Alabama tonight as dry air takes over. No meaningful rain Wednesday through Friday, and Thursday morning brings 50s reaching as far south as Geneva, Andalusia, Monroeville, Greenville, and Troy. Scattered showers return this weekend.
