Education is breaking - and it’s not because staff aren’t trying. It’s breaking despite the hard-working, dedicated people holding schools together in the most challenging circumstances. Funding simply hasn’t kept pace with reality and the cost is being paid by the very people keeping this creaking system afloat.

I know too many incredible colleagues who’ve become ill from the sheer impossibility of it all - people whose mental health is suffering and who are now considering their futures. I’m not going anywhere - I’ll keep battling on and trying new ways to make it work. But far too many good people are being pushed to the brink.

It’s not acceptable. And it’s not sustainable.

Schools desperately need significantly more funding to meet the needs of children. Too many families, colleagues and children are struggling under huge pressure, doing their utmost best with far too little. We can’t let it be too late.
