Members of the city wide task force Escorted Officer Stafford home earlier. Officer Stafford was hospitalized After he sustained 7 to 8 gunshot wound’s while responding to a robbery in progress. The BPD Family continues to support officer Stafford during the recovery process.

#BREAKING @bham_fire was called to a commercial fire at the #McDonalds in front of St. Vincent’s at 11:22. BFRS officials tell me the fire was mostly contained to the friers and the 2 injuries was minor smoke inhalation and both refused transport.

I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon. Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

#OVERNIGHT @bham_fire responded to a commercial fire at #tootiespackagestore at 2121 Greensprings Hwy around 1:30 Tuesday morning. Officials tell me there was a small fire inside that they put out quickly once they got in. The fire is under investigation at this time

#BREAKING @bham_fire is battling an apartment fire 1100 block of 13th st n. Very little information at this time but first reports are the apartments were vacant. Possibly being renovated. @BhamPolice has a large perimeter set up to keep people safe. Stay tuned for more info

#BREAKING @BhamPolice are investigating a homicide near UAB Hospital. Just before 11 officers responded to a shots fired call in the 1800 block of 7th Ave S. On arrival they followed shell casings and blood spatter around the corner to 18th St and found a male that had been shot

#BREAKING #TRAFFIC @BhamPolice are working a fatal pedestrian struck at 1ST AVE N and 50TH ST N. Just before 2am police tell me that a woman crossing 1ST AVE N was struck in the crosswalk. The car then hit a gas line in front of the Motel 8. 1ST AVE is closed at this time

#BREAKING #hotpursuit A stolen Centerpoint public works truck was seen by a @BhamPolice officer. The vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued through north and east Birmingham. The truck crashed on 95th st N & West. Ave After a short foot chase two suspects are in custody.

Shortly after 0230 Monday morning @bham_fire responded to a fire at Bankhead Towers at 2300 5th Ave N. On arrival firefighters found a small fire in the 15th floor hallway. Sprinklers had extinguished the fire. No one was injured. Fire is under investigation
