Two weeks from being Prime Minister and he hasn't got a clue, hasn't got a plan and hasn't got a mandate.
If BBC were reporting this about a South American country they would all it a 'coup'.
😂 Oh, the sweet, sweet smell of progressive hypocrisy in the morning.
The Oxford branch of "Stand Up to Racism" has just launched a petition... opposing the government's plan to house 1,250 asylum seekers on a former MoD site in Bicester.
Their devastating reasons?
"Lack of infrastructure."
"Massive strain on local facilities."
"The town might become a far-right target."
"And the facilities aren't good enough for the poor migrants."
Not in my backyard, bigots! This one’s got rainbow flags on the porch and a "Refugees Welcome" gnome in the garden... until the delivery van actually shows up.
You know, the same "infrastructure" and "facilities" arguments the rest of us have been screaming about for the entire country for years.
But apparently when it’s your charming little market town instead of some working-class area that’s already been culturally enriched to death, suddenly it’s a crisis.
Stand Up to Racism, everybody. Just not in their town.
Classic.
I was thinking Manchester may have been a one hit wonder for Burnham, but I have just seen the debt he ran up
The MSM kept that quiet. It's an economic disaster!
@BethRigby@Peston@christopherhope
Well said.
This is the most dishonest Government of our lifetimes. From the lies told before the election to the almost daily gaslighting on everything from defence to immigration, this platform has helped hold them to account.
Nandy’s announcement about X is laughable .
I am struggling with how a non MP at the time of a GE can engineer himself into becoming an MP to oust the sitting PM and to become PM.
This is not right.
He is not even PM yet and he is prancing around like a crowned peacock.
It’s just not right.
‘Neo-liberalism’ and ‘trickle down’ are just buzz words of know nothing pontificators. They use them because they think it makes them sound smart. It doesn’t. And they are unbecoming someone about to become prime minister. We deserve deeper, more considered analysis.
How is Starmer leaving the country in a stronger state than he found it?
We are basically in a recession. Pubs and businesses are closing in huge numbers. Unemployment is up. The welfare bill is horrifying. Britain has the highest energy prices in the world. The national debt is so bad creditors are at the door.
Starmer and Reeves have been a DISASTER!
🚨 Oxford Stand Up To Racism has launched a petition against housing 1,250 asylum seekers near Bicester.
Their official reason?
“It’ll turn the area into a target for far-right protests.”
So let me get this straight…
They’re standing up to racism by making sure the racists protest somewhere else?
Peak activism. 10/10.
“Refugees welcome!” (terms and conditions apply, postcode restrictions may vary) 😂🏠🚫

What Lisa means is she and her Culture Dept are leaving X because it's full of opinions and criticism she doesn't like. Another socialist declaring war on free speech and debate. Meanwhile, King Andy is still not taking any questions. No media scrutiny allowed. This is sinister.
Lisa Nandy had no problem using X when it helped Labour get elected. She's posted on here over 10'000 times in total since 2009.
Now she's in government, facing far greater scrutiny, she's suddenly decided the platform is the problem.
After being Community Noted multiple times and turning off replies to many of her posts in the last 12 months, walking away from X looks less like a principled stand and more like an attempt to avoid criticism.
If you're in public office, scrutiny comes with the job. Running away from it is spineless.
A minister in charge of media and culture is quitting X because of “misinformation”.
Lisa Nandy’s government is the biggest purveyor of misinformation.
She doesn’t like free speech.
's Werelds eerste koolstofafvanginstallatie kostte €4 miljoen om 900 ton CO₂ af te vangen. Dezelfde hoeveelheid CO₂ kan worden vastgelegd door voor ongeveer €7.000 bomen te planten. De zwendel is zo absurd, het is belachelijk.
There’s only a single driver in history that has been allowed to slam the brakes in front of his championship rival and get to finish the race.
His own team bosses went on record to say that it was a brake check, backed up by telemetry data and, as any experience in even just karting will tell you, that is a unequivocal black flag in any form of motorsport.
Not for the Great Hope against the big, bad Lewis Hamilton though.
Alongside Brazil and Abu Dhabi it makes up the greatest donation in sporting history. Very generous of the FIA.
@St164548@MV33Racing Max just can’t bear to be overtaken, especially by Hamilton. He always expects his competitors to back off or go off, unfortunately this time it back fired..
He did some crazy stuff, like the break test in Jeddah, driving Lewis off track in Brazil and of course Monza
They just never learn. We had all this with Starmer.
They tried to fill the man shaped void with stories about his past achievements and how he turned around Labour's fortunes without ever bothering to look what he stood for.
Burnham has some more substance and certainly more charisma, but it's a collection of cliches he's collected over 20 years that haven't really changed. He's not addressing the issues of today, he's fighting old battles that have either already been won, or can't possibly be.
He's a shallow thinker, he's thin skinned, and he's mediocre. His greatest achievement in 20 years of senior politics was to repaint Manchester buses and give them a new logo. "Manchesterism" existed long before him and was nothing to do with him. Within 6 months he'll be as hated as Starmer was.
Andy Burnham is about to become the leader of Britain with no election, no vote, no debate, not even an interview, while his party has literally never been more hated.
They will look you in the eye and claim this is somehow democratic.
