@litwithlayton #laylit20 i think the other cover addresses the prevalence of music in the story, such as fiona’s piano and adam’s violin, and the fact that the violin is a blood droplet shows the transfusion, but also shows the fact that things that seem right could be painful in reality

#laylit20 In chapter one, fiona notices a cat lurking in the shadows several times while looking out the window, and again in this chapter there is another reference to cats. I feel like the cats mirror fiona in a way, as she is lonely and unsure how to approach her personal life

#laylit20 it’s interesting how fiona’s marriage life is revealed more and more. We start off seeing only Fiona’s pov, and it seems Jack is being completely unreasonable. But as more of what is going on is revealed, Fiona’s moral standpoint is also questioned. No one is perfect.

#laylit20 why does McEwan choose to include the pretty gruesome scene of the connected twins? I feel like it highlights the difference between religious morals and scientific morals, and which the case with the children also deals with.

@domedarsh1001 #laylit20 while this is true, I think the movie also shows that in the end, it was still phil’s decisions that brought him out of the loop, so even though fate gave him a challenge, Phil was able to break the loop

#laylit20 it’s interesting to see Phil’s relationship with Nancy. In the beginning of the film, he uses her for a one night stand. But by thr end of the film, they have a genuine emotional connection (of course not as strong as Phil has with Rita, but still genuine)

#laylit20 it’s interesting the movie seems zooms in so much on the clock. In the beginning, we saw the whole room. But in the next few scenes, the clock is blown up to huge proportions. I think this emphasized the importance of time- it reminded me a little of a doomsday clock
