As reported today, former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to declare millions of ringgit in cash held in multiple currencies & precious metals. But why, so far, is the charge limited to non-declaration?

What is the actual source of these funds? Who paid, converted & supplied such enormous amounts of foreign currency? Was this wealth consistent with legitimate income? What happened to the corruption & money-laundering investigations, and why have no charges been brought under AMLA-was the evidence insufficient, or are investigations still ongoing?

Ordinary Malaysians exchanging even a few thousand ringgit are asked for their MyKad or passport, the purpose of the transaction & proof of the source of funds. A money changer was reportedly detained to assist the investigation, but what was the outcome? Did the money changers, banks or financial institutions involved conduct proper customer checks & report suspicious transactions as required?

He has pleaded not guilty and is entitled to a fair trial. However, a charge concerning non-declaration alone does not answer the biggest questions- where did all this money come from, & who facilitated the transactions?

"The people running Tabung Haji were top-tier professionals~senior bankers, corporate lawyers, and finance directors. They were not blur or clueless about how business works.

When smart corporate people make decisions that make zero business sense, you cannot just blame it on stupidity:

1/ Giving Away Assets: In the Indonesian plantation deal (PT TH Indo Plantations), TH handed over 95% company ownership before getting paid in full, gave the buyer a massive US$100 million discount, and used US$178.6 million of TH's own cash to settle the buyer's debts.
2/ Paying Over the Odds: Through the Trurich deal, they overpaid by US$58 million (RM243 million) for foreign land, including buying back land TH had already paid for.
3/ Diverting Charity Money: RM22.12 million meant for the poor under Yayasan Tabung Haji was diverted to political activities.
4/ Cooking the Books: They hid massive losses on paper so they could show fake profits (claiming a RM3.4 billion profit instead of a RM1.4 billion real loss in 2017) just to pay out bonuses and keep people happy.

To the ordinary & neutral man in the street, when experienced bosses repeatedly push deals that burn public money to enrich third parties, it is not an innocent mistake , it strongly points to deliberate abuse of power and calculated sakau."

Nik Aziz dan Hadi- Islam yang sama, politik yang berbeza

Allahyarham Tok Guru Nik Aziz mempertahankan Islam tanpa menjadikan orang bukan Islam sebagai musuh. Walaupun berbeza dengan DAP mengenai hudud, beliau tetap bekerjasama demi keadilan & menentang rasuah.

Hadi juga pernah bekerjasama, berkempen & duduk semeja dengan DAP melalui Barisan Alternatif serta Pakatan Rakyat. Malah, beliau menandatangani Deklarasi Kuching bersama Lim Kit Siang pada 2012. Jika DAP begitu berbahaya kepada Islam, mengapa semuanya diterima ketika PAS memerlukan undi & kuasa?

Nik Aziz mentadbir Kelantan selama 23 tahun & menolak kerjasama PAS–UMNO. Hadi hanya mentadbir Terengganu sepenggal sebelum PAS tumbang pada 2004, kemudian membawa PAS bekerjasama dengan UMNO melalui Muafakat Nasional.

Bezanya jelas- Nik Aziz memimpin melalui teladan & kewibawaan moral. Hadi pula dilihat semakin menggunakan ketakutan terhadap DAP, sekularisme & bukan Islam sebagai modal politik.

Ini bukan soal mempertahankan Islam. Ini politik yang berubah mengikut siapa yang diperlukan sebagai kawan & siapa yang mahu dijadikan musuh.

Zaid Ibrahim, your argument is not a defence of free speech. It is a cocktail of historical amnesia, political melodrama and unsupported insinuation.

First, the police questioning Hadi does not prove that DAP “ordered” the police to investigate him. Several police reports were reportedly lodged over his article. The police then recorded his statement. Unless Zaid has evidence that DAP instructed the police, his claim that this demonstrates DAP’s “political muscle” is pure speculation dressed up as fact. FMT reported that several police reports had been lodged.

Second, criticism is not the same as spreading inflammatory allegations calculated to turn Muslims against a political party. Calling PAS bigoted, racist or Taliban-like is criticism of its conduct and ideology. Claiming that DAP is an enemy of Islam, wants to destroy Islam or intends to erase Malay rights presents an alleged existential threat to an entire religious and ethnic community. The context, language and likely consequences matter.

Whether Hadi’s words actually constitute a criminal offence is for the authorities and ultimately the courts to determine—not DAP, PAS or Zaid Ibrahim. An investigation is not a conviction. Hadi remains entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence.

Third, Zaid’s assertion that during Mahathir’s rule “the police were never summoned” over DAP’s attacks is historically laughable. Under Operation Lalang, DAP leaders including Lim Kit Siang and Karpal Singh were detained without trial. Lim Guan Eng was later prosecuted, imprisoned and disqualified from elected office after criticising the government’s handling of a statutory-rape allegation. Operation Lalang’s detainees are documented here, while Amnesty International documented Lim Guan Eng’s imprisonment.

Those were not merely invitations to have tea and give a statement. People were deprived of their liberty.

Fourth, DAP is plainly not “untouchable.” Former DAP MP Tony Pua remains under police investigation over a Facebook post, according to the home minister. That fact alone demolishes Zaid’s theatrical claim.

For the record, I oppose the misuse of criminal law against political speech—whether the speaker is Hadi, a DAP politician, a podcaster or an ordinary citizen. But defending free expression does not require pretending that all statements are identical, erasing Malaysia’s history or inventing a conspiracy whenever one’s political ally is questioned.

Free speech belongs to Hadi. It also belongs to those who expose his rhetoric as divisive, dishonest and dangerous.

Zaid should defend that principle honestly. Instead, he has reduced himself to manufacturing a persecution story for PAS while conveniently rewriting everything that happened to DAP under the government he now romanticises. That is not principle. That is partisan hypocrisy pretending to oppose hypocrisy.

BN often tries to shift attention away from the corruption scandals of past UMNO-BN administrations by claiming they have changed. However, many Malaysians question whether genuine reform has taken place when the same systems and structures that enabled corruption remain largely intact.

Citizens are not stupid. If we want a better Malaysia, we must reform the system, strengthen accountability, and ensure that no one is above the law.

The real question is this: have we forgotten what happened, and are we prepared to hand absolute power back to the same political establishment once again?

A healthy democracy requires checks and balances, transparency, and accountability, regardless of which party is in power.

Please inform Onn Hafiz, Akmal Saleh, and Khairy Jamaluddin,wee kia siong that you're still bullshit in the eyes of non-Malays.

Don't challenge non-Malays, Progressive Malays are going to vote against you until your state government falls once again, like in 2018.
