More than half of all web traffic in 2025 was automated, not human. So the next time a stranger picks a fight with you on here, ask yourself one thing: how do you actually know that's a person?

You don't.
Neither do I.
That's the part that should stop you.

The numbers: bots hit 53% of internet traffic in 2025, humans down to 47%, the second year running we've been the minority. And 40% of ALL traffic is now malicious bots.

Fake accounts, stolen logins, fraud, outrage generated on demand.

Whoever can afford the server can rent a mob and aim it at a post, a narrative, a person.

It's accelerating because of AI. Agent traffic grew 8,000% in a single year. These aren't clumsy spam accounts anymore. They argue.

They quote-tweet.
They pile on.
They are built to be indistinguishable from the guy in your replies.

For years people mocked "dead internet theory," the belief that most of the web is now bots and AI, not people. Tinfoil-hat stuff, they said. The 2025 numbers just proved the bones of it right.

So argue if you want.
Just don’t assume the person on the other end is real.
