@stalman A similar thing happened a couple of years back. People wanted Vero because it didn’t have an algorithm… but nothing much ever came of it. Compare that to messenger apps. Signal, Telegram, etc. really became more widespread.
Finally saw the @Netflix film “Don’t Look Up,” a fictional tale of a Nation distracted by pop-culture and divided on whether to heed dire warnings of scientists.
Everything I know about news-cycles, talk shows, social media, & politics tells me the film was instead a documentary
@ChelseaNorthru@Malamule Actually, there are many projects that are rejected when the concept is presented but once finished people suddenly start to “see” it.
@myra_goldie For the first time since I was 16 I actually got hooked on a video game. 😆 Massive world to roam, looks like an anime, you can glide off cliffs, they address you as “traveler.” Free-to-play. Genshin Impact. It even runs on my phone. 😁 So nice and relaxing...
@myra_goldie Going for a run using the guided runs in the Nike Run Club App. More specifically, the mindfulness ones with Andy Puddicombe (Headspace founder). Seems trivial but I very quickly re-discovered how to run at my limit while using zero mental effort.
@tedforbes You've always been a proponent of putting limitations on ourselves when it comes to growing as a photographer. Interestingly, here a game designer explains the counter-intuitive secret to fun... Sound familiar? https://t.co/gemQAhnXxS
@thatJordanDrake The R5/R6 seem to be those cameras that need revisiting. I kinda like that Canon decided to go the Fuji route and give us better performance/features with new firmware. They seem overly conservative with heat but I applaud that they put their overheating times in the manual.
@stalman I know most of us have never had much love for iOS‘s own photo editing and preferred VSCO.
But on this roadtrip through Italy, it seems way better than before. Almost like it’s making better use of DR in HEIF-files now than VSCO.
Am I imagining things?
@stalman@RED_Cinema I think the c-log2 & 3 curves would close the DR gap significantly. C-log1 has so little DR because it was designed to work with 8bit codecs.
Exciting times for cameras when you have so many form factors and price points to choose from. It’s soo hard to pick a favorite. 😅
You've used Sony. How have these cameras handled the issue. From what I recall Sonys just stopped recording out of nowhere and the internet outrage wasn't as big. IMO this issue is just another variable for consideration. Just like battery life or card space.
@stalman How do you think Canon is handling the overheating issue on the R5/R6? It's mentioned in the user manual and the cameras take heat into account when displaying max. record time. Plus there seems to be a warning 30s before it stops recording.
