So many times when I find an article or video compelling, I slow down and evaluate the evidence for the claims being made and come up empty or discover they're just not very good.
Can you distinguishing between mere assertions and good arguments? Alan Shlemon encourages us not to be intimidated by persuasive-sounding articles, but instead to slow down, identify the claim, and examine if there are good reasons to believe it. https://t.co/ppAGnUxy9r
Sometimes Scripture challenges us and doubts creep in. #STRUniversity’s NEW Bible Conversation Series will strengthen your confidence in the Bible as the unbreakable Word of God and equip you with three key principles for everyday Bible reading.
Alan Shlemon, Jon Noyes, and Robby Lashua unpack what the Bible claims about itself and how the church got the 27 books of the New Testament. Once you understand why we can trust the Bible, you’ll discover how proper biblical interpretation can lead to new insights on familiar passages, correct mistaken understandings, and deepen your appreciation for Scripture.

You may have noticed a trend in our work: truth and compassion. Compassion is an essential part of what we, as ambassadors for Jesus, are supposed to be like.
@AlanShlemon shares three advantages of treating others with compassion:
1. Compassion helps us to treat human beings as image-bearers of God that are inherently valuable and worth knowing.
2. Compassion helps to prevent us from seeing other people as the enemy and instead to see them as image-bearers of God who desperately need the truth of the gospel.
3. Compassion helps change culture’s impression of Christians. The world believes Christians are hateful, intolerant, and opposed to people on the “other side.” When we take time to hear someone’s story and are compassionate in our manner towards them, the world takes notice.
Islam is growing. Nearly 1 in 4 people on the planet is a Muslim. As Christians, we're called to proclaim the message of reconciliation to them (2 Cor. 5:20). Be sure to hear the latest episode of my podcast, "Thinking Out Loud with Alan Shlemon."
“Would you rather have a live son or a dead daughter?” This question has stopped many parents of transgender-identifying children in their tracks, but here’s why it’s merely emotional blackmail masquerading as compassion.

“Would you rather have a live son or a dead daughter?”
That's one question that would stop a parent in their tracks. In other words, would you rather help your daughter "transition" to a boy or have her kill herself?
This slogan is a manipulative sham.

“Transgender ideology has hijacked science and used it to advance an agenda.”
@ReadTheLion features @AlanShlemon in an article about whether a person can actually change their sex.

Your argument doesn't work because it begs the question. Notice you created an analogy where two people are talking about the SAME subject - Jones. There's only one person in your analogy. But that's the very point that's in question - is there one or two?
I could just as easily start with a different premise and different analogy, where there are two different people: Smith and Jones. So, now I've baked my conclusion into the premises of the argument - there's two people and therefore we don't worship the same God.
For example, suppose two people, Jesus and Frank, are standing side by side. Christians worship Jesus while the other religious devotees worship Frank. To your point, we disagree about the nature of Jesus and Frank, but still do not worship the same person. So, you can disagree and not be talking about the same subject.
Christian transgender advocates believe the biblical data about eunuchs makes a case for people who identify as transgender today. Is that true?
No, and here’s why:
1) That the Bible mentions eunuchs or that Jesus extoled the virtue of eunuchs is not evidence for transgender ideology. The Bible describes people as male and female and doesn’t delve into a eunuch’s self-perception (what is described as “gender identity” today).
2) Anyone—whether intersex or not—can put their faith in Christ. But the fact that God accepts the faith of a eunuch does not imply his approval of castration.

Do the biblical passages about eunuchs signal a trajectory towards transgender inclusion? That's one way some Christians attempt to support the transgender movement. I unpack one of their arguments - and respond to it - in my latest article at Stand to Reason. https://t.co/VCj8QItlEw
Muslims claim the Quran’s reference to the gospel (“Injil”) is not a reference to the four New Testament gospels. But is that true? I offer a few reasons why I think it is.

@DrFrankTurek Because we’re ambassadors for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20). Ambassadors do two things: learn and engage. They first learn about a people group (their worldview, ideas, etc) and then they engage that people group. But learning about them first is essential.
