Remember the National Indicator Set for Local Government, circa 2006? It was an attempt to reduce the number of indicators that were reported on down from 1000 to 200. Govt depts had to lobby ODPM (as it was) to get stuff included. The cycle continues.
There are 399 different indicators local authorities are required to report against across 13 funding streams.
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities is developing a simplified Indicator Framework that it will publish "later in the year":

I am relieved that the government – at the eleventh hour – has finally stepped in to support buses, as Metro Mayors urged them to do last week.
We need a sustainable, long-term funding plan. The government has bought itself time to develop this and I hope they don’t waste it.
I visited @RealiseLE’s bus driver training facility - the first scheme to receive funding from our Adult Education Budget.
It’s great to see devolution working, improving people’s lives, and helping to tackle the shortage of bus drivers in WY. 🚌

Fantastic day at Convention of the North #CotN23 - a day full of energy, ideas, hope and optimism hosted by @The_NP11 @greatermcr. Now over to @WestYorkshireCA@MayorOfWY for CotN24!
I spoke to @BBCBreakfast this morning after TransPennine Express cancelled over 600 services last week.
They’ve proven they are not up to the task, so it’s now time that they hand the reins over to someone who is. It can’t be that this government continues to reward failure.
The far-reaching implications of the cost-of-living crisis impact communities, including the staff we work alongside. We know that financial hardship affects people’s mental and physical well-being. We are working together with @MayorOfWY More at https://t.co/rz4tf8MVaC
I’m proud of the way people in our region have come together to help each other this year, as we face a painful cost of living crisis.

I’ve spoken consistently about the need to tackle stalking - the slow death.
As the first woman metro mayor, I’ve supported @VS_WestYorks with over £450,000 for a Stalking Advocacy Service.
For #16DaysOfAction I spoke to professionals about the service.

I’m looking to appoint an inclusivity champion to address inequalities across a range of health and economic issues in our region.
Could this be you?
