I left Alabama. I am in Georgia now.
At 3 a.m. I saw a yellow sign glowing beside the highway.
Waffle House.
I went in. The parking lot was full. At 3 a.m.
I asked the waitress when they close.
She looked at me the way you look at a child who has asked when gravity ends.
She said, "We don't close, baby."
Two things happened in that sentence.
One: I learned Waffle House has never closed. Not at night. Not on Christmas. Not during hurricanes.
Two: she called me "baby."
I am a grown man. I have a mortgage. It repaired something in me I did not know was broken.
I ordered hash browns.
She said, "Scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped, or topped?"
I did not understand a single word in that sentence.
I said, "Yes."
She nodded and wrote it down. Apparently that was a correct answer.
Then I learned something, and I need you to know I did not invent this.
The United States government measures the strength of hurricanes by whether the Waffle House is open.
Open: the storm is fine.
Limited menu: the storm is serious.
Closed: evacuate. It is over.
This is called the Waffle House Index. FEMA uses it. FEMA. The disaster agency.
Japan built earthquake satellites. America watches a diner.
Both systems work.
At 3 a.m., the Waffle House contained: two truck drivers. A nurse still in scrubs. Four teenagers in prom clothes. One man who had clearly made several mistakes that evening. And one Japanese man with a notebook.
Nobody asked anybody why they were there.
At Waffle House, being there is the answer.
Then a man at the counter noticed my Alabama shirt. It was a gift. Long story.
He did not speak. He pointed at the shirt and shook his head slowly, the way you correct someone in church.
Then he said, quietly: "Go Dawgs."
I panicked and used the only word I own.
"Roll Tide."
Every fork in the building stopped.
The cook looked up from the eggs.
The waitress said, "Baby, no."
I understand now. Every state here has its own word. My word is from one state ago.
The man bought my waffle anyway.
He said, and I am quoting him exactly: "You didn't know. Bless your heart."
I have been told that phrase has two meanings.
I believe I received the gentle one.
I believe.
@shaunvlog_ All Star - eggs over medium, hash browns scattered, bacon, and a waffle well done (but tell them to hold the waffle till you finish the rest of your food so you can enjoy the waffle warm) 😋
@MaryTilesTexas If you’re concerned about performance and upgradable parts, you’ll get more for your money by building your own. If you want convenient, out of the box and you don’t care about playing on ultra setting at high frame rates, this may be for you

@MoxsyOG This is probably the one I’ll be grabbing. Seems to be the sweet spot for a lot of features.

I understand the logic behind not playing Marathon in the hopes of forcing Sony to make a revenue-based decision. But acting like the actual game or it’s (15) players are the reason Destiny is over just isn’t logical
@KileeSakazaki FD looks and plays nice; very reminiscent of Anthem. Ton of gear to hunt and hours of grind. I feel Remnant was a bit more linear but still solid in what it has to offer. Unfortunately, neither offer the depth of the others. FD would be my vote
To quote @Aztecross but switching Destiny and Marathon.
“I don’t want to play Destiny… I want Marathon… and if Destiny, if I have to f’n bury you myself to send that message, I shall. I will do everything I can to destroy you, pee on your corpse and light you on fire”
Rather than working together yall wanted this to be a war between Marathon and Destiny.
On that note, I have privated 10 years of Destiny Lore videos. Good luck with a cohesive story if D3 ever happens. It aint in the game, its not in the studio (because it was vaulted). Better not piss off Byf, he is the last source of comprehensive lore.
@CoachDanGo Jabra used to make the best but stopped. I had the Elite 7 Pro and they were class until one went bad. Just picked up the Bose QC Ultra 2nd Gen but the sound is too muddy even after adjusting the EQ. I’d use my AirPods Pro 3 if the sauna didn’t make them overheat. Still looking
Streamed Marathon to one of my closest friends that I used to trio Trials with and he stopped watching within 5 minutes and just said it was ugly and that they should have made Destiny 3 instead. Does the art style really filter people that badly?
