I have my dead mom's phone (I use it for some 2fa stuff ive been too lazy to change) and over a year ago it rang and I answered to my own voice going "hello mom" and then silent when I responded
i keep saying what a huge issue this is. been saying for over a decade that we were at risk for a massive loss of black cultural legacy. it's less about you individually liking the blues, spirituals, or soul, and more about the value, appreciation, and preservation of culture.
Some of my TERRIBLY DRAWN storyboards for I Love Boosters. Later- we did have an amazing artist re-do them, but planned through most of prep using these. It worked. You don't have to use AI to do this shit.
just saw someone doin a ritual of bacon egg and cheese, timbs and a pic of a mouse and pigeon in a circle with candles for the knicks chip on insta, MY CITY HAS NEVER BEEN MORE UP
Late to this but the answer is: When you are listless and procrastinating, you are actually in a trauma response known as "freeze." (As in: Fight, flight, fawn, freeze.) Your emotions are perceiving something subconsciously that your body is afraid of and trying to protect you from. (Failure, success, overwhelm, whatever).
To get out of freeze all the time would take therapy and nervous system regulation.
However. To get out of freeze FOR THE DAY, just start moving.
Either running or walking or jumping jacks or dancing or showering (followed by jumping jacks??? Why not??) or, if writing, just start banging nonsense words into a computer or notebook for 30 minutes or even 4 solid hours until it doesn't scare you any more.
“The Black cop could be a large factor in preventing our genocide. But no help can be expected from that quarter. The same stupidity and desperation that brought him to the gates prevents him from interceding.”
-George Jackson
This is a recorded interview with a woman who grew up on a rice plantation before the Civil War.
Listen to how she remembers it.
"It was a lovely happy time," she says, "living in open spaces with many lovely colored people and animals and flowers and fields."
She describes Saturdays riding a buggy to the plantation, a dairyman named April who "didn't do anything else but love us and skim cream," a cook "we adored."
Nearly a hundred enslaved people on the property. In her telling, they were not the enslaved — they were "our friends."
Then the part that gives the whole thing away:
"It's no disgrace to see they're like children… because they are like happy children, some of them, because they like to sit in the sun rather than work hard, and they'd rather play than work."
everyday that i come online i see more and more black children gone missing / dead. they don’t deserve this. they should be guaranteed safety, and yet they’re not because that’s still too progressive for people today
The closure of Delaney Hall without the release of detainees is not a win. The closure of Delaney Hall but not getting ICE out of New Jersey is not a win. If detainees are transferred out of Jersey that’s not a win. Family separation and violence against detainees would continue.
