@synaptickid@thederbyapex Our club is 400km from our closest club so merging isn’t an option. Be nice to see equitable funding for all sports. Especially those like ours that engage with hard-to-reach populations (women/LGBTIQA+)
Their passion and their resilience during the last 12 months have been astounding. Thank you to the amazing Albany community for your support of our club and our venue.

Sadly, we join our roller derby friends from across the globe who have lost venues and training spaces due to the ongoing impacts of COVID 19. The Track will be closing in the coming months.
Our future is uncertain but we will work to keep our skating community alive and thriving.
We will find a new venue.
We will reopen our programs as soon as possible.
We have an incredibly hardworking club with amazing volunteers who are the heart and soul of the organisation.
In WA it is now mandatory for sporting venues to keep a contact register.
We flippin' love public health, our community and our frontline health workers! QR code is at 4 points as you enter
A contact register is one of the most effective ways to control the spread of COVID-19.
Very hard to write this one, but I feel like its important to connect the dots. This is a tough time for our sport. #DerbyTwitter

Sport will always be political and so it should be, with the ability to shape and grow our culture and our identity.

The opportunity to apply for a grant from the City of Albany was raised with a potential $3000 for our club and as much as this money is needed we have decided to not apply.
We wanted to talk about why we have chosen to not apply for this money.

community and sports to look at the sources of their funding and if it aligns with their values and mission.
Roller derby has always sat to the left of the mainstream, has been political and has been life-changing for people who don’t fit in a binary.
