@JJ_McCullough@SurpriseHangman@Noahpinion Canada is in the commonwealth of nations and EU membership has been floated multiple times now. That is unequivocally a much closer link to Europe than the US has.
so let me get this straight:
-soccer counts as brazilian/argentine culture, basketball counts as serbian/lithuanian culture, hockey counts as canadian/swedish/finnish culture, rugby counts as NZ/UK culture, but baseball and american football and college sports/march madness cannot POSSIBLY count as american culture?
-afternoon tea is british culture, masala chai is indian culture, espresso is italian culture, turkish tea/coffee is turkish culture, but iced coffee (and sweet tea down south) doesn’t count as american culture?
-telenovelas are part of latino cultures, bollywood is part of indian culture, but hollywood cannot count as american culture?
-kpop is korean culture, jpop is japanese culture, but boy bands (which literally originated in the US) don’t count as american culture?
-wine is part of italian/french culture, beer is part of czech culture, vodka is part of russian/polish culture, but cocktails and soeakeasies aren’t american culture?
-kilts are scottish culture, saris are indian culture, but blue jeans and cowboy boots don’t count as being american culture?
-italy can be respected for having varying regional cuisines throughout the country EVEN IF 85% of it is just different variations of PASTA but the fact that louisiana cajun and creole food is entirely distinct from NE lobster rolls and tex-mex and jersey italian american cuisine and southern biscuits and gravy etc still doesn’t count as america having regional cuisine ?
-maori history counts for NZ, aboriginal history counts for australia, but native american history doesn’t count for the US?
-quinceañeras are latin american culture but sweet 16s aren’t american culture?
i could go on for ages but this is already too long for twitter. i’m tired of this conversation! EVERYWHERE HAS CULTURE! even if you don’t like it!
@MitchyBG@lillesoe@MotorsportMP4 The biggest difference is visibility. All cars at lemans have wipers while f1 cars
/their helmets don’t. The traction isn’t the issue
@SoloN0IR@_Nicksy@RVSHVD4K If you’re traveling abroad you should 1000000% have a credit card that has zero international fees and just pay it off as you make purchases
@Press_X_Fool@suboxoneshawty It connects the beaches. Sometimes you just don’t want to deal with the sand being everywhere but want to be by the water. Like the pic below south of the beach is the concrete and there are ladders for jumping in the water and coming out
@raevva_enka@CromRedoubt The larger issue is just how much you have to drive. Driving 80km+ each day is a reality for the vast majority of this country.
With so few alternatives to driving, it’s a huger burden on many people.
@bAnthonYsr@LePinkprint@DerdrickDWms It’s not coincidence that the largest prison in the country is a former plantation, and the most policed and incarcerated population in this country is the one that was formerly enslaved.
To this day prisoners still work in cotton fields. It’s real not fear mongering.
@AlyceGma@_jayisblessed @biasedbykenya This is not saying that 13% of Black people have masters degrees, rather that of people that hold Masters degrees, 13% of them are Black.
Per the census, only about 8% of all Black people have masters degrees. 2.6M out of 33.7M Black adults.
