Knot-DH is more than just a token - it's a post-quantum cryptographic key exchange protocol that uses concepts from knot theory to generate secure shared secrets.
The idea is simple: create a cryptographic system that is resistant to quantum computing attacks by basing its security on the mathematical properties of knots and their operations.
🌟3.1: How does Knot-DH work?
I'll try my best to explain the actual algorithm behind Knot-DH here. I'm not a quantum expert and this is just my understanding.
P (public knot):
Randomly chosen, oriented knot that is shared publicly. The starting point of the protocol.
A and B (private knots):
Participants choose their private, random knots.
A' and B' (exchange knots):
A sends A' = A ⊕ P, and B sends B' = P⊕B to each other.
⊕ is the connected sum of knots, combining two knots into a new one.
Shared key:
Both compute a shared knot:
A⊕B′=A⊕(P⊕B)=(A⊕P)⊕B=A′⊕B
The resulting value is derived from the same mathematical process, ensuring both parties arrive at the SHARED SECRET.
🌟3.2: Why Knot-DH is Secure
1) The security of Knot-DH relies on the difficulty of factoring a knot given its connected sum components. This is computationally complex for both classical AND quantum computers, meaning it's insanely secure - even from quantum computers in the future.
2) Randomizing or canonicalizing the representations of knots makes it harder for an attacker to deduce the private knots
3) Knot invariants are used to compute the shared secret. This makes it efficient for the users, but difficult for an attacker.
Knot-DH is not only incredibly secure, but it also is efficient and flexible. This makes it potentially adaptable for Web3 applications, as well as many other key exchange systems.
🌟Chapter 4: Recap; what am I investing in?
In my opinion, by investing in $KNOT, you are not only investing in the validity of the algorithm. You are also investing indirectly in @quantdotbond as it's their first experiment - similar to @pumpdotscience with $URO and $RIF.
Obviously, you are also investing in a post-quantum algorithm that might be the future of cryptography as we know it.
This all may seem quite complex to understand, but what's important is the results of the experiment.
