Not sure whose employees you'd expect to have highway maintenance stickers (@BCC_Help? @NationalHways?) but I assume they'd be at least faintly irritated by either their employees flagrantly pavement parking or chancers using fake flashes to avert complaints.
@Sebast1antombs Well that's a new contender. I thought they were one of the '... on horseback' range. To add to the confusion, I believe an American asked to produce pigs in blankets will make something that's almost, but not quite, a sausage roll.
@AndyWoodturner@Sebast1antombs Thank you (& oops, I meant to mention it was the base of the font). Now I just need to find out why the churchwarden suddenly needs a word for it.
@Sebast1antombs I know we used to consider April new year, hence taxes, but I don't know if I've ever seen anything about why we changed. The numbering is Roman though, so presumably the reason was theirs.
@Sebast1antombs Myself I'm quite attached to the six-season model, prevernal (thaw and ploughing), vernal (proper spring), estival (the summer that midsummer is the middle of), serotinal (full on harvest), autumnal (leaf fall) and hibernal (stay in bed).
@Sebast1antombs I never know what to say to these. Most of what I read between 12 & 25 is kinda mulch in the back of my head, and the things I remember clearly I remember for odd and irrelevant reasons.
Although Catch-22 was the book that taught me I could have a different view to a teacher.
@Sebast1antombs@AndyWoodturner That would make a lot of sense. I guess the other option is bioaccumulation in some kind of bacteria and/or whatever eats them, being concentrated & then released when they die at the sewage works?
