The real flex nobody talks about?
Being able to run pain-free in your 40s.
Not the car.
Not the watch.
Not the race photo.
Just knees, hips, calves, Achilles, and lungs that still show up for you when you ask.
At some point, the goal changes.
You still want to be fast.
But you also want to wake up the next day, walk down stairs like a normal person, and keep training without your body filing weekly complaints.
Running pain-free after years in the sport is not boring.
It’s wealth with shoelaces.
@DavidDack It’s very easy to get swept away with progress, my 5k has been pushed on over last few months, I’ve hit 20:50 a couple of times. Came away from parkrun at the weekend, disappointed to hit 21:06. Last autumn, I was busting a gut to get under 22. Keep training and working.
@DavidDack I often say to my wife, it’s about the circles you keep. We have some exceptional athletes that we train with, and so our standards naturally are higher. But I also look at where I am compared to normal people, and it’s night and day.
Rice has taken 16 free kicks since he scored against Real Madrid and not scored.
He took 12 before that game and never scored.
His had 23 assists in 8 years in the Premier League.
The overhype for this player who runs around a lot and gesticulates for the cameras is staggering.
I love the angle taken by @kenearlys on the Champions League final.
He’s absolutely right to dedicate so much time to how Arsenal waste time 🗑️
The drinking water and human life lines 🤣
