Central Park is one of my favorite places. I’m lucky to have it as my backyard. But it’s important for those of us who enjoy it today to acknowledge that—like so many of our institutions—it was built through the disenfranchisement and displacement of Black people. 🧵⬇️ #birdcp

"Looked at through the lens of biodiversity loss, every toad and rabbit and squirrel and fox and coyote and goldfinch and cricket and lacewing and roly-poly — they could all be Flaco. We just need to learn to love them the way we loved him." https://t.co/BLHMsO915E

Haven’t been spending a ton of time on this app but wanted to share this as I’m super proud of the work @NYCAudubon has done to get this building to retrofit! Hoping that I (and all the Central Park North collision monitors) will have better data to report as a result🤞🏻

“Fatally hitting a pedestrian with your car is not always an accident – it’s a crash, often a result of choice: choosing to drive too fast or choosing to turn while distracted.” https://t.co/Po6c1TzJH5

This image from today's IPCC synthesis report is brutal. The existing policy trajectory represents a profound failure of our governments, and of our international political system. We need much more aggressive mitigation and much stronger international cooperation.

I just checked and I’ve been actively live tweeting LOTR marathons since ‘09. Since my tweeting hasn’t quite kept up with my marathoning, I’d like to add a new hot take to the record: Denethor’s “go now, and die in what way seems best for you” is the funniest line in RTK
