On July 1, California's gas tax goes up again.
New rate: 63.4 cents per gallon, the highest in the nation.
This increase stems from a law passed in 2017. At the time, the gas tax was 27.8 cents per gallon. In less than a decade, it has more than doubled, and under current law, it automatically increases every year.
If Sacramento were serious about making California more affordable, it wouldn't keep raising the cost of filling up your tank year after year.
