@amazingmap This may have been because the Sacramento and American Rivers (and many others) flooded almost every year, turning the Central Valley into an “inland sea” periodically. Sacramento flooded MANY times before levees and dams were built

@runcamille -the last 1/3 of the course is harder, steeper, per mile.
-it could be 80 clear and breezy or it could be 88 with on and off thunderstorms and stifling humidity
-it “should” be an “easy” race but some years there’s a 30-40% DNF rate.
-almost zero cell reception all weekend

@ThePapaLinks We would love to have you come out. Good people and fun challenges. There are a couple of great fast flat races like Tunnel Hill (pure dirt tow path) and Javalina (smooth desert trails, but heat). My 2 cents is “go run a trail 50k with a slower friend, don’t compete, just enjoy”

@McKirdyTrained I keep a list of weird reasons an American or WR doesn’t count: lack of testing, missing curb on the track, mixed nationality relay etc. But this is a new one. At least it wasn’t like Mondo or Lagat where he sets BOTH country NR
