Now I have done the formalities. I will be leaving @Southern_NHSFT in 8 weeks to begin a new role within @HantsPolice as a Wellbeing Support Caseworker. Working with Police Officers, bringing my #OccupationalTherapist skills to the table and building the role from the ground up!
Anorexia recovery isn’t just about and weight restoration, there’s so much more to it:
• learning who you are without it
• getting your identity back
• processing new emotions
• understanding your triggers
• using new coping tools
• reconnecting with people
• living life
@HannahtheOT Completely agree. I was turned away as was deemed ‘too unwell’ but community mental health teams said I wasn’t unwell enough - everything unfortunately went down hill from there and I fell through the gaps. This happens too often.
Any tips for returning to work after Maternity Leave?! I’m due back in May and so nervous after some time out!
Oliver is 6 months old now, where does the time go?!

Hi everyone. Really sorry I couldn’t make it to the @TheOTShow to do my talk today. Myself and my little boy aren’t very well so the journey to Birmingham just wasn’t doable. If anyone wants to know more about my role then please just message me. Hope to see people soon ☺️
@OTstudent_EmmaM @TheOTShow Not a lot of evidence about this area, especially OT specific but a lot of transferable evidence from mental health and physical health care. Good luck! 😌
A bit of evening preparation after getting the little one to sleep for two events coming up! Really excited to present to students at Salford University on Tuesday and at the @TheOTShow in November #OccupationalTherapy#OccupationalTherapist
@_Nicmwalker Thanks so much! I know it was a lot of information, even I feel a bit boggled! But please let me know if you want to explore further, more than happy to help 😌
@AlexThompsonOT Another fantastic, passionate presentation, this time regarding OT in policing, a topic that touches my heart personally because two of my family members work as police officers. There's a lot to think about here. 👏🏼💚
Hearing from @AlexThompsonOT now about becoming an occupational therapist in policing - really interesting and relevant - we hope to develop some #roleemerging opportunities linked with Alex in future #ExCP2022
When I tried taking my own life it was never bc I wanted to die. I had this realisation that it was bc I was is in so much emotional pain that all I wanted was for the pain to end. All I wanted was to feel like I could breathe again. But what I have learnt is… pain is temporary.
@theRCOT@unisouthampton for my BSc and @UoSOccTherapy for my MSc! Both great universities - feel lucky to have completed two degrees when I didn’t even think I’d do one when I was 17 😌 Good luck to all the new students!
Baby update - being a mum is a challenging new role for me but it’s also an amazing one. I’ve never felt a love like it ❤️ Having to learn how to readjust to life with a baby in tow and a lot less sleep! Getting there 😌
