@lizardschwartz I dislike the iron test finger prick more π and the pressure cuff. The giving blood is over in less than 15 mins, average is 7 depending on flow. I've rarely had discomfort afterwards. You get squash on your 1st go, but hot drinks thereafter, and ALL the biscuits. Penguins ftw!
@lizardschwartz I've never had a blood test, but giving blood is a literally small scratch and then that's it. It feels a little strange in the elbow, but by no means painful after the initial breaking the skin. Removal has varied for me from being the same as going in, to feeling nothing at all
The joke's probably already been made, but...I wonder if the call for Operation Yellowhammer would be something akin to "Shortages and queues and no cheeeeeese"
Really enjoyed #BZSsymposium19 - heard lots of inspiring talks on bird conservation, and such a great setting. Very much appreciated the exhibit and archive tour at @bristolmuseum afterwards, especially this elephant bird egg! Huge thanks to all involved π.
Definitely impressed with the molecular ecology themed events organised by @JosieDJackson et al (2019)....perplexed as to how, after avoiding school sports days like the plague, I somehow ended up on the winning team?!
Yesterday was the very first @MolEcolCU Lab Olympics!! Here's 'Team G' the winners of the illustrious Golden Pipette ππ (inspired trophy, even if we say so ourselves). Thank you to @JosieDJackson for organising a great evening!
@amyfowles12 Perhaps Jeyes fluid or bleach? Give it a good soak in a diluted solution, then soak and rinse in water to make sure none of it's left before refilling and putting feeders back up. Used to use Jeyes when I volunteered at an owl sanctuary π.
@amyfowles12 I've seen a few scaly legged finches over ringing, and wanted to learn more about papilloma, so I googled it a couple of weeks ago and found out about the mite one. This is where I found it out https://t.co/nTgZ7tIgmD
@amyfowles12 @Natures_Voice@_BTO Could be caused by a mite, Cnemidocoptes, as it's also on the legs. Causes scaly growths. Either that or papilloma virus, but I'm almost certain papilloma is ONLY on legs and doesn't affect the face!
