As promised, I’m hitting the ground running on DAY ONE! Today I was official took office as District 25’s State Assemblymember and immediately introduced my first bill to root out corporate special interest money in our democracy.
Here's what it'll do:
THANK YOU Assemblymembers @AsmCoreyJackson, @Ash_Kalra, @Alex_Lee, and @AsmLowenthal for standing with workers over AI billionaires and voting YES on @CaliforniaLabor's sponsored bills in the Assembly to create strong guardrails on artificial intelligence in the workplace!
✅ #AB1883 - Stop AI Strip Searches
✅ #AB2575 - Protect Healthcare by Humans
✅ #AB2564 - Ban Surveillance Pricing
✅ #AB1776 - Stop Corporate Monopolies’ Anti-Competitive & Union-Busting Practices
the Becerra campaign is labeling my colleagues, Berkeley Councilmembers (elected by CA voters!) and fellow community members as “paid actors.”
Including our Mayor, Adena Ishii, AKA our first woman of color mayor and our first Asian mayor.

BREAKING: The Seattle Social Housing Developer has announced its first acquisition, a 150-unit apartment building near Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle, for the cost of $60.9 million. It plans to convert half the units to be affordable for low and middle-income tenants.
I applaud the governor on calling out the inequitable corporate tax breaks + capping them! It’s a great innovative first step to make corporations pay their fair share
@CAgovernor
The billionaire tax is just the opening move to restore tax justice on the corporations & tech oligarchs. Tho he is a billionaire, Steyer is the one consistently championing a complete tax justice platform on billionaires
There's one thing you need to know about @XavierBecerra:
As a congressman & AG, he demanded the HHS Secretary use "march in" power under federal law to lower the price of government-developed medicines.
Then when he became HHS Secretary, he literally refused to do that.
The AI revolution must work for all of us, not just tech lords.
Medicare for All given job displacement.
A federal jobs program to hire 1 million Americans. I call it Work for America.
An AI for the People agenda.
At a press conference in Sacramento within the last hour, Democratic candidate for California governor @TomSteyer warned about efforts to roll back California’s Cap-and-Invest program — which he calls a key climate tool to reduce emissions over time.
Oil companies, meanwhile, argue the proposed regulations would raise costs and could force some operations out of state.
Steyer also called on @XavierBecerra to return campaign contributions from Chevron, saying: “We’ve got to get big oil out of politics.”
After hearing tonight‘s debate, the leading Republican candidate for governor in California is… a posh British guy?? And he’s beating the outlaw cowboy. What has the GOP come to?
It’s still all about affordability.
And Tom Steyer was the only candidate on the stage tonight who offered a clear vision on how to help Californians afford to live in California.
