Unpopular opinion: Someone declaring an 'unpopular opinion' is almost never actually an unpopular opinion because otherwise it'd not get engagement and you'd never see it.

This is apparent in programming when engineers rigidly and uncritically apply "best practices" or design patterns.

Each engineering problem should be approached with openness and flexibility, getting a sense of the contours, without trying to shoehorn it into a rigid mold.

My thinking and articulation of ideas is more rigid when I'm new to a field of knowledge— I'm making up for my underdeveloped knowledge structure.

But once I move towards expertise, I can be looser in my thinking.

i.e. "Learn the rules of X before you break them"

This is 100% bullshit. They ban trans women from competition if they've experienced puberty while simultaneously attempting to deny trans women access to puberty blockers or hormone replacement at any age. This is open discrimination. No trans woman has dominated any sport ever.
